I saw Dr. Toder!

I finally saw Dr. Toder on Friday!  I like her.  She was very no-nonsense.  She said she didn't think that I would have any problem getting medicare approval and told me that she is currently scheduling in Nov.   Now, I have to wait for them to contact me for whatever the next step is.

I could be having surgery before the end of the year!!!!

I lost a few more pounds so I am now down 43 pounds.  Dr. Toder wants me to continue to lose weight and I have to ween myself off the etodolac that I take for my arthritis.  It will be difficult, but I am determined to do whatever it takes to make this work.  I want my independance back!

I wish I had checked this forum before I went to the appointment, because I would have attended the support meeting at EMMC.  My appointment with Dr. Toder finished at 4 pm.  I would have loved to meet many of you.  The only meetings I have attended thus far have been on Tuesdays.

Congratulations! It won't be long now.
I too had to ween myself off prescription arthritis meds.  It took me several tries to get completely off them an on extra strength Tylenol. It wasn't easy but well worth it.

Dr. Toder is wonderful! Both DH and I think the world of her. Her care of me and my emergency surgery for intestinal blockage was great! She does the most incredible suturing- no stapling. She hand sews the connections of your bypass and also does meticulous stitching of your laprascopic ports. She says that when she was trained she was taught that the patient won't see the job you did on the inside but will see the scar left.

That's too bad- you were right there at EMMC. So sorry you missed out on the meeting. They are always informative and I enjoy it when one of the surgeons comes for q+a time. So far I have been there when Dr Lalor (who isn't at EMMC anymore), Dr. Cough and Dr Toder have been at support group meetings. Someday I'll be there when Dr. Huang is there.

November- that's right around the corner. Good luck with insurance approval. I wish you no snags in getting your surgery approved.
