Having a Hard Time

I have gained 3 pounds since Sunday!  I am following the rules, exercising daily for at LEAST 30 minutes, eating under 800 calories.....why am  gaining??  Ugh. It's early in my cycle for it to be water weight plus my BP med is a diuretic so I shouldn't be retaining that much.  I'm just SO FRUSTRATED!!  I ate 565 calories yesterday and walked 3.5 miles and I still gained a few ounces.  I know weighing daily isn't always accurate but  I should have at least stayed the same.  I really just want to SCREAM.

been there done that, the band is a total learning experience, not sure why we can't loose weight eating 800-900 caloreis.  RNY patients do.  then people will tell you eat more, less carbs, less fat, more protein.  arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggg!!! i am15 months out, and still not loosing weight.  like everyone tells me, be patient.  yea, right,  like they would be patient after having a surgery for weight loss and nothing is happening.  I wish I could help you, other then trying to stay possitive and saying if I hadn't had this done I'd probably be over 270 lbs. now and i'm 198.  so,  just keep doing what your doing.

I feel for you I really do even though I had RNY.  I have been a very slow loser compared to everyone else that has RNY, I think anyways.  Since my surgery in November I have only lost 72lbs, the rest was before surgery.  Everyone else that has a surgery date of mine or after have already lost that and more. It is frustrating!  My weight has never just melted off as other RNY'ers.  I've worked for every lb I have lost.  Like Cheryl said just try and stay positive and do what you are suppose to do.  We all have those days every now and then!  We are here to listen and support.

ONLY 72 lbs since November???  wow, no wonder we get discouraged.  I'd be thrilled.  in 15 months i've lost 40 lbs.  I say that is pretty awesome.

By no means was I comparing Lap Band to RNY, they are two totally different wls with different ending results.  I was comparing myself with other people who had RNY.  Even with surgery, our bodies are going to do what they want to do.  I had a gain of 8 freaking lbs recently, that JUST came back off this week, so our weights can flucuate too.  It probably had to do with water rentention and too much sodium intake over the 4th of July. I know lapbanders who have had surgery after me who have lost more weight then I have as a RNY patient.

I just wanted to lend some support, as everyone gave to me when I was first starting out.  That is what we are here for.

Thanks for listening.  It's just so disheartening to do everythng right and not have it work.  I need to focus on the positives.  I am still down 7 pounds in 16 days and 52 pounds since I started in Dec.

it is disheartening, and will continue to be, just be possitive and look at all your progess not your down falls.  and DON'T COMPARE YOURSELF TO ANY RNY patients.  if you need to walk away and regroup, do so.  This is about you, no one else.  put the rules on your refrig. and go thru them once a week and make sure your doing them.  it is so easy to stray away from one or two.  REGROUP.  good luck

I would be discouraged, no doubt!  But that being said, do try not to self-sabotage.  It does seem that all of our bodies react differently to things and we can only be here to support each other, when we start to compare it drives us crazy.  I am very happy with the weight I have lost and don't care if I lose faster (most days) because I think living on 600 calories/day is ludicris.  That is a starvation diet, not a way of life.

Try going to a website that can tell you how many calories you are supposed to eat to get to your weight loss goals.  It will ask you what you weigh now, whether or not you are sedentary or active (I put sedentary and then record any exercise).  I use The Daily Plate, I LOVE IT!

Since I started to use it religiously I have had less stalls and don't worry about everything that I put in my mouth because I have (usually) already recorded it for the day and know I can fit it in to my calorie range. If I flub up (like I just ate some high protein crackers taht I haven't recorded) I will have to fit some exercise in today to get it back under my allotment.

565 calories isn't enough for any healthy human being to live on.  If you add in the calories you burned and your exercise calories burned you were probably at a deficit of 3000 or more calories for the day.  CAN YOU SAY STARVATION!!!

So listen to MamaG, she has the band experience, but know that everyone's outcome is different.  I feel for you, to alter your anatomy and not have any results is more than frustrating, God know I w ould be.

I have to keep reminding myself that it is a process.  I always want immediate gratification.  Keep up the good work and the weight will come off.

It is definitely a process and definitely frustrating...  I know that if I don't get all my fluids in, I tend to "gain" a pound or two the next day.  I can't follow my own advice with regards to this but, try to just weigh yourself once a week, that way you won't focus so much on the little ups and downs...  It sounds like you're doing everything right and it unfortunately just takes time sometimes.  I had RNY and I'm losing fairly slow poundwise but my sizes are going down, so make sure you measure too!  Hope things start getting easier for you soon!
