I had issues with the pre-op diet.  The first few days were tolarable but the start of the second week I was getting really sick to my stomach, dry mouth and an awful taste in my mouth.  It seems like I was not getting in enough calories.  My nut also said I could have 1 lean cuisine a day and that REALLY helped.

I did not lose a lot of weight (about 7 pounds), but that said I had lost 21 pounds up until I started the pre-op diet.  So maybe it depends on how much weight you have lost so far.

Also be sure you drink enough fluids--very important.

Finally, that is just what I wanted to hear.  I lost 36 pounds before the pre-op and have lost 3-4 since.  I'm just worried I won't lose a lot b/c I already have, you know?  Thanks for telling me you only lost 7, I think I'm in the same boat as you.  I feel better :)

You will retain water with this change of weather to heat and humidity.  Also, the shock to your system of doing liquids......your body is going to try to get into starvation mode and hold on to every last calorie that you give it!  Hang in there..........

I always weigh 2-3 pounds heavier in the evening than I do in the morning!  If you must weigh (Like I do!  haha)  weigh at the same time of day with the same amount of clothes on!  The other weights for the day won't be as accurate...........You ARE normal!    hehehe

Hi I'm new here to OH and alittle shy. I will be having gastric bypass July 6th, Dr. Trieu. I've been on the pre op diet since Monday. Protein shakes 3 times a day, chicken broth and SF popsicles and SF jello.. I was so tired the first few days. I had no energy to do anything. I napped In the afternoon and went to bed early. Today I took my dog for a walk and actully felt like mowing the lawn . It felt great to actually feel like doing something.  I'm taking a multi vitamin right now and calium and took a Iron pill yeasterday. Is anyone taking vitamins pre-op? What are you taking? What should I be taking? I wish I was allowed a lean cruisine once a day. I was relly hungrier than usual today, I guess because of the activity I was doing. Well anyways thanks for listening. It will be nice to get to know you all.
thanks Donna

Welcome Donna.  Good luck to you, your surgery is very soon.  We weren't actually "allowed" lean cusuines, but the NUT said she didn't know what the big deal was. But, if you can stick to it than it's even better for you I'm sure.

Glad to have you aboard!

Hi Kelly
thanks for responding. I guess your right on the lean cruisine. The liquid diet  Is so hard... but 'll get through It, I've gone this far..I keep downing glasses of water before my shakes  and all day long and It seems to help some. I just have to keep myself busy and the days will go by faster. The surgery date will be here before I know It.
Thanks again
Donna
