Sorry, I'm being whiny but UGH.  Day 1 sucked, Day 2 was worse but morning of Day 3 the scale showed a 2 pound drop from the day before and it gave me hope.  Yesterday, Day 3, I hardly ate anything (I was super busy) and I went for a good long walk and this AM the scale is UP   Huh??  Help!!!!

That would be water weight I am sure.  It was/is humid and that tends to make our bodies hang on to water because it knows it needs it to sweat. I know I always have swollen legs/ankles on humid days (yestrerday was no exception).  After day three it does get easier, stick with it.  You will feel the rewards after surgery.  I think it really helps with the surgery and the healing.

Good luck!  You can do it!

THanks, today is much better and I'm not really hungry much at all.  I had a shake for breakfast and I just had a sf popsicle after playing outside with the kids.  I'm just discouraged and thought I'd be losing more on the pre-op diet.  I can lose at this rate on my own and still eat some things I like.  Oh well......keeping at it.  10 more days :)  Well, 9 and then a day of liquids :)

What are you eating??  I look at the list they gave me and cringe. Today is my first day.  So far I've had coffee (is that allowed - it isn't on the list) and a yogurt with protein powder.  Cream soup - I can't stomach it.  Can I have a broth instead??  I'm going shopping at lunch.  The weird thing is I'm not hungry like some people have said (was before the yogurt but not since).

You can have broth, and the NUT said she didn't have a problem with us having a lean cuisine every night up to the day before.  Like she said, the purpose is to lose weight, however you do it.  I told her I cheated several times.  I would go buy a piece of haddock (like 1/2 a pounds worth) and eat the whole thing.  She said she didnt' consider that cheating. I still managed to lose 20 pounds.  Mostly I had protein shakes, soup, and yogurt.  I also had unflavored protein in my 5 calorie juice.  That helped too.

GOOD LUCK!

Hang in there! As much as it sucks (and I know it does!) you gotta eat something, when I don't eat my scales don't move, sounds kind of stupid, but at least drink some protein three times a day or something so that your body doesn't shut down and you get frustrated! Hang in there! It's all worth it!

The preop diet is a work of the devil I swear.  I did really good the first week - great willpower and everything.  As it got closer to my surgery I went haywire though - lol.  About midway through week 2 I snapped and ate like 5 buffalo chicken wings, I realized a couple days later it was because of PMS.  My mind and body just couldn't handle it that day I guess.  Generally it does get easier after a few days honestly.  Plus the scale will fluctuate due to water weight, where you are in your cycle and a million other reasons.  I lost about 12 lbs. on my two weeks and I've seen anywhere from 10 to 20ish.  Good luck and you will make it - believe it or not!

So far today I've had
Coffee with splenda and sugar free cremora
Light and fit yogurt with one scoop of protein powder
Chicken noodle soup at hand - THAT IS ALL WALMART HAD WHEN I WENT UP ON MY LUNCH
Special K20 Protein water

Thinking a smoothie for supper.  I'm going to Hannaford afterwork and get some groceries.  Where this is such short notice I had NOTHING in my cupboard.  I like the idea of being able to eat haddock or lean cuisine..that will definitely help out alot.  I don't think daytime will be an issue but at home at night..ugh!!

So I emailed Doctor Wolff's office to ask if they could give me a general number of pound they expect me to lose on the pre-op.  They wrote back and said that there was nothng in my health and history to indicate that I needed to lose any more weight just that I could not gain from when I last saw her.  What do you think??

Today I've had
slimfast high protein shake X2
sf popsicle X2
I cracked and ate one package of 6 crackers w/peanut butter.
