Is this normal?
Okay, I was banded 8 days ago and have been feeling okay--still having a lot of pain around my port. Today I got in the shower and halfway through my shower I got really weak and had to sit down in the tub because I thought I might pass out. I yelled to my husband who helped me out of the tub and onto my bed. I was so weak and short of breath that I couldn't even get my clothes on. And then while I'm in bed I burst into tears!! My husband said "What's wrong, why are you crying?" and I said I don't know. I have absolutely no idea why I started to cry. It took my about an hour to recover from this episode.
Has anyone ever experienced anything like this? Should I call my doctor?

well, I haven't had the weakness...just nausea....but the crying episodes I had early on. The can be a sign on dehydration, along with nausea. If it happens again call the docot, but just try to get your liquids in!

I had a RNY, not a band, but I had similar things happen to me. I discovered it could be a few reasons:
-Dehydration
-De-toxing; toxins sustained from high sugar and fatty foods are working their way out of your body. Even though it is a good thing, it can feel unpleasant, and also give off an odor
-Low blood sugar
It's always a good idea to let your doc know what's going on. I got very emotional after surgery. Some of it is a change in body chemistry, but I also felt I was mourning the loss of food as my Comforter. I still (at 9 weeks out) get teary-eyed more easily than normal for me.
