6 days post-op
I had my Realize band surgery last Wednesday 6/17/09 by Dr. Toder. I had my surgery around 10:00 a.m. and was home by 3:00 p.m. If anyone wants my opinion on coming home the same day, I'd say try to have them let you stay overnight. I was so out of it and not hardly even able to stand up when they sent me home. My husband was really nervous about taking me home.
It is now 6 days since my surgery and I feel like today is the first day that I can say that I can tolerate the pain. For me pain has been an issue. I only had the band so I can't imagine the pain you bypass people must experience. I have been taking the Percocet but they make me really sick to my stomach and very sleepy. Maybe I'm just a wimp, but that just got kicked in the stomach feeling all day long is not pleasant.
I am able to eat soft protein--so much better than the liquid diet.
Just wondering if anyone else out there that had the band had the same experience.
That all said, I am very happy that I had the operation. Have lost 7 pounds since Wednesday.
