Pre-Op weight loss

Well, I was weighed today at the doctors. I have not weighed in since June 10th when I saw my surgeon. I've lost 22 pounds since then but I am not excited. I know its all water weight. With the lymphedema I dont know what is water or what is me that I am losing.  Dr. Cobean said to lose 10 pounds below my 10% to leave room for water weight.Well 10 pounds wont cut it when I can gain 20 pounds of water weight in 5 days as what happened after I was discharged from hospital.  I can finally relax concerning surgery, I now know I am cleared for it by my doctors. I guess I just continue to take my water pills and pre-op diet and pray for the best. I guess in my heart I feel that it will really happen for me this time around. I am my own worst enemy sometimes. I think I get too hard on myself and start that self-doubt.  Just throwing this out there. Not something that I am overly concerned about just needed to get it out of my head .  Thanks for listening/reading.

The lymphedema stuff stinks!  Just keep working they way you have been and the trend on the scale will be downwards.......just like it's supposed to be!  You've done great so far with your loss!  Keep your chin up!  It will just keep getting better from here on out!!!!!!!!

Not sure if this helps you, but I know with my own water weight the more I stay away from carbs/fats/sugars the better off I am.  When I have those in my diet I tend to retain a lot more fluid, I too can lose/gain tremendous amounts of weight that is all water stored in my tissues.

Good luck and keep us posted.  You are doing a great job losing.

Don't beat yourself up. You're doing fine. If the surgeon is happy with your weight loss then so be it. Just keep on working your pre-op diet.

There are scales that measure the % of lean body mass, body fat and fluid. The dieticians at EMMC use these for our post op weigh-ins. It's quite an eye opener to find out the % or fat lost vs lean body mass kept. I wonder if your dieticians do the same?

Hang in there- someday you will look back and chuckle over all these worries. Right now I know how real they are.  You'll be fine- promise.
