Speed Bump

I have been waiting for the results of my sleep study.  Instead I got a call from my PCP's office to let me know that they are working on a referral for me to a cardiologist.  When I inquired why, I was told it was due to "episodes" that my heart had during the sleep study.  So, I am waiting for the referral, while wondering and worrying about what is wrong and how will this affect me having wls.  I waited so long for medicare coverage to kick in so I could start the wls process and now it is being prolonged.  I'm sorry for venting.  I'm just getting  a little frustrated.  I know that this is for the best as it would be terrible to find out about any heart problems on the operating table.  Please keep your fingers crossed that it is nothing serious.  Thank you!

Definately keeping my fingers crossed for you but I totally agree that it's better to find out now than on the OR table!   You absolutely want your surgery to be a success.........this testing is all part of making sure you will be successful!   I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!  Please keep us posted and feel free to vent all you want!!!!!!!!

That is how I found out I had sleep apnea 13 years ago, I had congestive heart failure.  But I was still able to get surgery. After just a short time on my CPAP, my heart and body were able to get the oxygen it needed to heal enough to be stronger. So yes, it is very dissapointing to have this speed bump, but better safe than sorry.  I believe you will still be able to get the surgery, it will just be after they are sure you are strong enough to handle it.  Good luck and let us know how it goes, we'll be thinking about you.

Oh how frustrating for you...  But like everyone else has said - better to know now than later.  Hopefully it's a minor thing that they can fix quickly and you'll be on to your surgery in no time.  Vent anytime you need to - that's what we're here for.

Thank you, everyone, for your support and understanding.  I finally got someone to call me back this afternoon with an appointment with a cardiologist.  I had made several calls this morning which ended up punctuated with a few curse words regarding how stressed out I was getting since they were just leaving me hanging without a follow up appointment to check on this heart problem.  I guess the squeaky, cursing wheel does get the oil!  LOL!  

I will finally be seeing a cardiologist on July 8th at 12:30 pm.  Now to take my anxiety meds and try some deep breathing.

Well with being the Queen of speed bumps, I understand your frustration and concern.  I will keep you in my prayers that its nothing.  It most likely is nothing to worry about.  You could just be having palpatations.  Best luck to you.
