I am home

Surgery was Monday...everything went well- I slept through the whole day.

Yesterday was a good day, did lots of walking so I could get home today.

Drains came out today at 1pm and I took a shower and went home.

I was in a lot of pain prior to the drains coming out and the drains felt like hell coming out.

I had 2oz milk for dinner...will start back to shakes tomorrow...can't wait for two weeks to go by so I can switch to something to chew on, the broth and jello didn't cut it- could barely get even a few bites/sips down...

thanks for all the support

Congratulations and best wishes....Two weeks will go by quickly.  The drain tube removal was the weirdest feeling for me!  Just remember to drink your fluids and get in as much protein as you can.

In between sipping and walking you will be napping.  That makes the time pass quite quickly and is very good for healing.  I "ate" jello so that I could have something to chew on.  Good luck, glad you are home and healing up!

you are about a month out now, if I am reading correctly....how long were you on liquids for and how did you take to switching to soft foods after the liquids? what stage of diet are you on now?

I was on liquids for only two weeks after then I was advanced to the soft protein stage. Every plan is a little different and some make you do pureed food.  I am still on soft protein and some  soft/, cooked fruit/vegetables if I have room.

Congratulations and welcome to the losers bench! The two weeks after surgery will go by pretty quick. I couldn't wait to actually chew something by the time my second week came. I ate the jello and popsicles so I chew on something.

I just started on phase 4 last Friday, soft protein. I've only had one day that I was sick. So far I'm doing ok with the soft protein.

Good luck!
