Intravenous Iron

Starting Tuesday, I have to go to the Day Surgery unit of SMMC to have my first Intravenous Iron treatment for my low iron.  Does anyone have any experience with this and possibly know how effective this is. It is one more step I have to make to have surgery. My iron level has to go up. I'm hoping this treatment works. I have to go every other week. Hope this works. See Dr. Cobean next Wednesday.  Hopefully all goes well.

I have no idea how well that works or anything but wanted to wish you the best with all this!  Hope your iron level comes up like it should!

I hope my iron comes up too. I think it will. I'm looking at it this way now...I am gonna be one of the most appreciative people having this surgery when I finally do. With all the hard work I have done and will continue to do, I dont think there is an iota of a chance that I will not be a good recipient.  Murphy may set the laws but I'm here to break em lol.  I'm not going to stress.  Nice...relaxed and optimistic attitude will get me further.   I will also discuss lap band with Dr.Cobean. If he thinks that would be a wiser choice over RNY then I will do that.  All is not lost.

I don't have any experience with intravenous treatment for low iron. I take sub-lingual b-12 which keeps my iron at an even keel

Good luck with the treatment. In have known people who have iron injections with great success. One more hurdle towards surgery
