Greek yogurt

I've seen several of you talk about Greek yogurt. Where do you find it? What is the difference between that and say the Stoney Farm organic yogurts? Also does it have the same taste and texture? I am not a huge fan of yogurt but I really like the Stoney Farm...maybe it's Stoney Brook Farm.. something like that,  fat free vanilla yogurt. I have a serving of that and mix the vanilla protein powder with it. 30 grams of protein in that one meal.

I buy my greek yogurt at Hannaford...in the health food refrig section (Fage) or at Trader Joe's, when I happen to to Mass.  It is MUCH more "tart" than regular yogurt and I, personally don't like it plain.  There are some flavored ones out there (Oikos and Chobani) which I hear are pretty good, but they are also higher in calories.  The Greek yogurt is thicker and has more protein than regular yogurt.

I usually mix mine with some splenda, fresh fruit, SF preserves, PB2, or SF syrups.  I have it A LOT for lunch and I add some Hi protein cereal because I LOVE the crunch!

You can also use the plain greek yogurt as a sour cream if, let's say, you want to make a veggie dip.  It's quite versatile AND you can't beat the calorie/protein ratio!

I buy the  Oikos Greek Yogurt. I think it is by Stoneyfield?  I find it in the natural food section at Hannaford, next to the fage. I like it alot. You must add an artificial sweetener as it is very bitter without it.

I also buy it at Hannaford (organic section) or shaws at the end of the regular yogurt section.  I don't particuarly like any but the plain which I use as a dip base of mix with sugarfree instant pudding and a little milk to thin it down.  It is a great replacement for sour cream.  Each brand varies a little on protein content but ranges from 14 to 18 grams and calories range form 90 to 130.  The flavored ones are too high in sugar for me and I still need to add splenda.

I have found them to be a little grainy, like it sits on the roof of my mouth.  But I used it in Tracy's Cheesecake recipe and after it sat overnight it was delish!
