Brookhaven Hospital

Does anyone know about this hospital? iIts has an obesity rehabilitation unit to help people lose weight through diet, exercise and counsel.  I am calling them later today to see if they accept patients from out of state.  Its in New York.  This may be my only hope of getting the weight off as I am not sure wls is an option for me right now. Some of you might be familiar with this hospital as its featured on Discovery Health Channel.  I got more bad news yesterday at the doctors. it seems that my red blood cells are exceptionally small.  The MCV is 69 and they are supposed to be 82 to in the 90's.  My red blood cells may not be producing sufficient amounts of hemoglobin which carries oxygen to your organs.  The doc did a special blood test yesterday. Not sure of results as of yet.  He said this would delay surgery and I dont know how long I can wait without surgery. Surgery for me is to save my life at this point, I'm so discouraged and scared.  UGGGHHH!!!!   I tried to stay out of trouble but trouble seems to find me lately.

GOd is working...we just don't get it sometime.  Relax and have patience.  The point is you are moving forward to solution, you aren't giving up.  look at how smart you are finding that center, you keep pushing your doc for a referral.
Take care of your special medical needs and the rest somehow will work it out,. Isn't it ironic that something is abnormally SMALL in you to disrupt WLS...good you found out now than in the middle of it all.
You are in my prayers and I am sure that whatever is suppose to happen will, keep advocating for YOU!

I only know what I have seen on TV also.  The administrator there seems exceptional and the staff appear well trained. I think it's worth checking in to even if it's to get healthier for WLS later on.  Good luck, let us know what you find out. I agree with Kate, better to find this stuff now than have dire consequences later.

Well thanks for the encouragement. I guess I am not meant to know the answer to my why right now.  It is good to find this stuff out now rather than later, however, I really need this surgery.  I hope that there is a mistake or something. I've worked so hard to get this surgery.  Quitting smoking was the hardest feat. I hope I get the big picture eventually.

Good morning, I also agree, you know it might feel discouraging right now, but seriously think about all the things they have found wrong and if you hadnt' started this journey they wouldn't have.  or not all of it anyway.  I think your moving in the right direction.  stay possitive and keep searching for what you need.  I have seen Brookhaven on Tv also.  If that is where you need to be, then that's the answer you looking for.  Best of luck.  as said before we're here and behind you.  keep the faith.  Hugs, Cheryl

I know just what I have seen on the Discovery Channel. I thought they were down south, I may be wrong. I hope everything works out for you!  Stay Positive!!
