Swimming???
I was cleared for most every type of exercise except for heavy weight lifting at about 2 weeks out. At that time all my incisions were healed and staples were out. I would think water/swimming would be less evasive then other types of exercise because the water lessens the stress/weight of your body. When did your dr say it would be ok?
my Doctor says that I will be cleared at my two week appointment...and thats when I will start seeing my trainer again. I also asked about swimming too becuase its getting warm out. They also say about two weeks, the incesions need to be healed so that you won't get an infection from the water! Hope it helped a little.

Hmmm...I find it a little odd; at my 10 day appointment, they said I could lift weights again, if that's what I used to do before surgery. But they said to wait 6 weeks before swimming. My incisions are all healed, and I feel really good. Swimming is my exercise of choice because I have plantar fasciitis, and it doesn't hurt my feet. I'm wondering if they would clear me a week early if my PCP took a look and gave a stamp of approval. Everything I've read has said 2-4 weeks. I'm sure my doc wants to be extra-careful (that's his trademark!), but I am dying to get into a pool. Plus, it's my parents' private pool, so there wouldn't be the same potential exposure to germs as a public pool, like at the Y. I'm going to look into it; I have the chance to swim tomorrow!
