6 month post op check

Yesterday I had my 6 month check up with the dietician and Dr. Toder.

All went well. I am on target as far as weight loss for this far out. I have lost 77 pounds since surgery. I have gained 4 pounds lean body mass since my 3 month check.  My blood work was fine, within normal ranges for iron,Vit D. I will continue with the supplements I currently take daily  2 one a day vits, 2 viactiv calcium chews; sub-lingual vit b-12- 3 times a week and a prescription Vit D once a week.

They both said I have done a great job and we talked about goal weights and excess skin. They both feel 160-165 is a reasonable goal.

I asked Dr. Toder about donating blood- not recommended until at least 1-2 years out WITH good blood labs. Plastic Surgery- wait until at goal for a while before persuing this.
She asked about liquid calories, junk food and other problem foods. No liquid calorie problems- I don't drink alcohol and the only caloric drinks I have are protein shakes and milk. She did ask if I have cut out cream in my coffee- yes, most times I use FF half and half. Gotta work on that.  I did 'fess up about my problem with nuts. I told her they are history- I can't just eat just 1 serving. We also talked about exercise, how I love to work in the garden, yard and how much energy I have now.

So it was a good visit and Dayna wrote GREAT JOB on my report for this time.

Sam is doing great! He's down to 205. Soon to be in one-derland.
He's hoping at his next check with his PCP to be off of all diabetes meds. He was taking 4 different ones prior to WLS. Gradually he is going off of each one as his AC3 blood tests improve.

Wow, how exciting!  You have done an awesome job. Nice to hear your labs are in normal range as well, I worry about people who don't take their supplements seriously.  GOOD JOB!!!

That's great.  So how much coffee do you drink?  I can't imagine that a tablespoon of cream would be the end of the world unless you drank more than a cup or two.  Looks like you are doing fabulous.

Funny she didn't ask how much coffee. I usually drink 2 double cups a day. Sam says I drink too much coffee, I reply that I onle had 2 cups- the size of 2 normal servings!

That's great news!  You are doing great!  I thought the same thing when I read about the cream in the coffee.  I have a lite (1/2 decaf 1/2 reg) coffee each night (probably more like 2 cups based on the size of it) with any whey in it...and creamer.  But hey, I do get the sugar free creamer at least.

I think as long as we watch ourselves we're good.
