NEED PEP TALK
Hi everyone,
Had my RNY done Monday. It's 4:30am Friday, and I can't rest. I was feeling fine until Thurs afternoon, when I began feeling nauseous. The liquid Hydrocodone they gave me is making me sick to my stomach. Now I'm beginning to have these split-second feelings where things start to go black, and I feel like I'm gonna pass out. I have been getting my liquids in, my first full day of protein went well (Thurs.). I didn't feel this way in the hospital, so I'm not sure what's up. Did others go through this? Jeez, I was just beginning to feel relieved that I hadn't had any nausea. So I'm sitting here hurting, knowing that even if I was offered $1 mil, I couldn't down that pain med. I want a glass of ginger ale so badly! Now I'm wondering what I got myself into. I think it's time to call the Dr, before the weekend hits.

Yes I would agree with you about calling Dr. L's office. I didn't have any of the things you described. Are you in pain enough to need the pain killer? I know as soon as I could stop taking it I did bc previous surgeries proved that certain ones made me feel worse than if I didn't take them. Crystal is usually pretty quick at returning calls when there are problems. I hope you get some help and some relief...Good luck and let us know what happens!
Hope you are feeling better real soon. If you have not yet Called the Dr.s office do so please no need to take chances. Do you have liquid tylenol. That will help with the pain a little. When in the hospital they have you on different pain meds. It could be something in the pain stuff making you sick. Let us know how you make out.
Yep, called the doc's office...
They wanted a stool sample to test for a certain bacteria that can follow a strong dose of antibiotics; all this good & bad bacteria in your intestines gets pretty messed up w/ the prep & post surgical meds and trauma. Plus, anyone w/ flu-like symptoms is getting screened for the swine flu (scary). Less nauseous today, diarrhea seems to be slowing down. Switching from sweet protein shakes back to savory & salty soft foods (chewed to a PASTE) and plain water seem to have helped A LOT. Got some anti-nausea suppositories, which have helped a lot. Sorry if this is too much information; with these surgeries, sometimes there's just no nice way to put things! Thanks for everyone's input. Sometimes it's nice to get others' perspectives, just so you don't feel like a hypochondriac!
