How Can Individuals and Families Prepare? Experts emphasize that personal hygiene is the most important preventative measure. Therefore, you can immediately prepare by following the guidelines below:
  • Limit the spread of germs and prevent infection by practicing good hand and respiratory hygiene;
  • Wash hands frequently with soap and water or an alcohol-based cleaner;
  • Cover coughs and sneezes with tissues;
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick; and
  • Stay home from work and school if you are sick or have flu symptoms, and especially if you have a fever.
  Stay informed - Monitor the CDC web site for the latest information.   Centers for Disease Control travel information relating to swine influenza, including preventive measures, is available at http://www.cdc.gov/swineflu/

Yesterday the director where I work sent out a very formal email about this situation and ended her comment with "there have been no confirmed cases of the wine flu in Maine."  I replied to her and let her know that us Mainers call the wine flu a hangover. LOLOLOL
