My BL/BA surgery this morning
So I had my surgery this morning in Portland. I am in shoock with the amount of pain...hardly any! I have read a ton of posts on the plastics board and it seems like some feel fine right from the bat, and some are in quite a bit of pain. So far so good.
I have been resting and sleeping on and off all day from the anesthesia, but I really am not in hardly any pain at all. They say night 1 is the worst and it will get a little better each day. They usually send you home with oxycodone, but since I have an allergy to it they gave me vicadin (which they were worried about since it isn't nearly as strong). I took one when I got home, and it has passed the time when I can take my next one, but I don't feel like I need it. I think I will take one before bed tonight, but I don't anticipate being on pain meds hardly at all. I can describe the pain by saying that it is like you went to the gym and did chest bench presses and are sore later from it. It is the muscle that is sore, nothing else.
I go back to portland for 8:30am to get the 2 drains out. I have no idea what they look like since they are all bandaged and in the binder bra thing.
The doc always worries when you are feeling good because he is afraid you might overdo it. Not me...I am sucking this up for all I can...it's like a vacation from taking care of the babes! I will be very careful not to do anything with my upper body.
I hope this eases some of your minds thinking about doing this in the future! This was like a papercut compared to the RNY.

WOW! I am so impressed you feel well enough to post. I had no idea you would get to come home the same day. I am so happy for you. Don't let the pain get ahead of you, even if it feels okay now, you may want to stay on it for a day or two. And definately, suck it up! You have been through a lot. You must be excited to see how it all looks.
WOW!! That is awesome Tanya!! So did you like the Dr? Seems to be a very caring man from what my Mom's freind had told me. She said he even came in to check on her in between his other surgery cases!! She also said the same thing about the pain and stuck with Tylenol but def try and stay ahead of the pain "just in case" Thank you for letting us know, between you and Mom's friend it makes me feel a WHOLE lot at ease for when I go in for my TT & Panniculectomy!!
