Who has there Gall Bladder? Mine attacked me..
Hi Everyone Sorry its been a while, been busy but waned to share with you all. I spent two days in the ER with excrusiating pain in my back coming around my front. Since I have spine disabilities , and under pain dr. care of my back, they at first thought it was that. After tons of tests
they found stones in my gall bladder and ovarian cyst. Long story short, I called my Bariatric DR.T and he requested the test results and we now are schedhuled to say good bye to the gall bladder. Anyone else had theres out?? and what should I expect. I am on some meds to hold it down until I get back from our long planned spring FLorida vacation, leaving tuesday if I can stand it.. preop testing is monday and the day after I get back next wednesday I will have it out.
He was so kind to go out of his way to accomidate our family vacation.. BUt I surely hope I can keep the pain at bay. Its horrid. I am drinking my protein again and unsaltedtines, as much water as I can, on nausea meds too. and a bit bloated these days. from all the med s and problem itself. This is one of the many things I had read about prior to surgery. I am 16 months out. I had recently gained a few pounds quickly and couldnt quite figure that out. but bloated a lot and not feeling myself. I blamed it on the weather. Praying that I can have comfy week, at least be able to ride the bikes along the beach a little bit.. each day.
the gall bladder surgery will be lap and will enter my belly button, It is to be a day surgery if all else goes well, I have a greenfield filter in still, and begin lovenox injections tomorow.
I have heard that folks sometimes have loose stools after gallbladder removal. but then again they said that about my by pass too.. so everyone is different and I surely would love to hear from anyone that has had theres out or have had stones.. this is the very first problem I have had in all this time... Scented Blessings

He took mine out in Sept. Honestly I had a harder time with the gall bladder surgery than the bypass. My friend from YouTube Nikki, just had hers out and she said the same thing. She felt worse after the gallbladder surgery. I asked Dr Trieu why that might be and he said because after the bypass we lay in bed for 2 days on a morphine pump, and they basically kicked me out of the hospital after the gall bladder surgery before I was even completely sober from the anestesia. Thats the only thing he could come up with, which makes sense.
He used all the same incisions for me except the belly button one of course, which is a pain to keep dry to get it to heal. I havent noticed any difference in loose stools, no more than I had before...the occasional diarrhea.

Thanks Jackie!
wow september. 7 months from your surgery? did you have stones and pain too? I didnt use my morphine pump once. I guess from all the back pain and surgeries , morhpines side effects were worst for me then the actual pain I would of slept better at home after the by pass.So I am eager to go home and heal. I appreciate you sharing with me and wow you are cranking! I have gained a few pounds . I stopped losing 11 months out. I also have a lot of other complications, back stuff.. now gallbladder removal and then ovarian cyst removal. YUK. thats not gonna be fun either. I dont believe that has a thing to do with the by pass. at 16 months out this is my first problem I've had related to the surgery.
I do agree that day surgery is shove ya in and out. But for me I'd rather be out. I can rest soo much better at home. I have had to stay in a hospital for up to 36 days before and I am always eager to get dressed and out .
I havent had diarrhea at all, I have the opposite but again, I belive my pain meds from my back have a lot to do with that. each time I have a pain procedure and unable to exercise I have problems with constipation. again thanks for your time!
Blessings

Actually it was 4 days less than 6 months. My surgery was April 14 and Gallbladder was out Sept 10. I ended up getting stones and lived on percosets for a month because it hurt so bad. I didnt have any when we did the preop testing for the bypass cuz he would have just took it out then...so I got them that quick.
I dont wanna lose anymore my goal was 148 because that was what I needed to hit to have a "normal" bmi and right now Im hovering at 139-140 but thank God I have stopped losing, I dont want to lose any more. I know I ended up with the stones from losing the weight so fast.
Ovarian cysts suck, my girlfriend has a huge one on her left side and 3 smaller ones on her right side.
Pain meds seriously bind you up, my ex takes 90mg of time released morphine a day and up to 4 10mg oxycondone for her breakthrough so she was using enemas a LOT.
No need to thank me for my time

Hi Allicca! Missed you around here! Sorry to hear about your gallbladder and the ovarian cyst! I had my gallbladder out after the birth of my first child (about 15 years ago) and had loose stools/IBS up until the time I had my RNY. Now, if I don't take a stool softener, I've gone the other way! TMI, sorry. I didn't think the pain from the lap gallbladder removal was that bad, then again, I was much younger than I am now! haha! Just get some rest.......wishing you an uneventful recovery! Hope you can enjoy your vacation!!!!!

I haven't had my WLS yet but had my gall bladder out in 2007. I was on pain meds for a week afterward. The pain wasn't horrendous ..the worst was the incision right below my rib cage when I tried to sit up. I made the mistake of trying to come back to work 4 days after surgery and was WIPED out. I went back home and literally slept for almost 24 straight hours...(Mom was so worried she almost called the ambulance). So overall it wasn't horrible but wasn't my idea of fun either. I will say this...comparing the after surgery pain to the pain of a gall bladder attack....I'd have the surgery 10000 times over.
