New member--have surgery date!!!

Hi everyone! I am excited to be joining my first Bariatric Forum. I have been working with my Dr for a year, and my surgery date is less than 2 weeks away (I get shivers just writing that!). I've lost 23 lbs so far in preparation for surgery, and will be having a Roux-en-Y. I'm scared (which I'm sure is normal), but really excited, too. I feel that my surgeon and staff have prepared me well, and that I have realistic expectations going in.

Question: Has anyone out there with fibromyalgia had bariatric surgery, or does anyone know someone who has? I had a hysterectomy a year and a half ago, and had awful pain problems post-surgicaly. Going over a fibro/surgery pain plan w/ Dr next Tuesday.

Thanks everyone for your inspiration!

Welcome, Maria!!   I don't have fibro, but I have RA (in the same family)  Don't be scared, you will be do fine.  And you will get some pain meds after your surgery. Good luck with that prep!  I didn't have to do that, YAY!!  I hear that is the worst part of the whole thing.

Congrats on getting your date and welcome to our little family. I will tell you I had more pain following my gall bladder surgery then I did with the RNY. I had prepared for it to be the other way around.  Your date is right around the corner. I know you are in good hands with Dr L.. There may be a forum on OH somewhere that combines RNY and fibromyalgia I will look and post it if I can find one for you. :-)
