Well I had my 2-3 week follow up today and got cleared to have soft proteins.  I have been craving beans for some reason and Dana okayed them in moderation due to the carb factor.  SOOOO on the way home I stopped by Wendy's as she had mentioned their chili.  OMG... It smelled so good on the way home.  Well I got home and measured 1/3 of a cup and when I got done laughing at the small amount of food before me (This is the reason for measuring food...eyes and brain are still in before WLS mode)  I topped with a sprinkle of cheese and OMG sooooo good.  It felt so good to have real food.  Off to the store now for ham slices and string cheese for dinner.

Real food...you must be sooo excited!

I've never had Wendy's chilli but I'm surprised she recommended it.  That early out I wouldn't have been able to have anything so spicy.  But then again I've never had Wendy's.  Possibly it isn't spicy?  I love chilli...as a matter of fact I'm making it for dinner tomorrow.  I wasn't able to handle the spices until I was about 6 months.

I do remember in the early stages I was able to tollerate deli meats.  I always have them slice it as thin as possible.  Cheese is the same way.  Before and after surgery I have/had cheese cravings.  Problem is it tastes so different to me now...but I still crave it.  I also have to have it sliced very thin in order to eat it.  I've tried several different string cheese and I haven't found one I like.  Please let me know how you do on it and what brand you ate.

LOL...I remember those early meals and how small the portions looked! Now I eat more and feel like it's a normal amount - but when I go to a restaurant and see the portions they serve - I can imagine I ever ate that much then had dessert!

Had sliced American cheese and deli ham for dinner.  Yum Yum  Tolerated the chili and the ham and cheese great.  Ate really slow and chewed, chewed, chewed.

careful with meats. they are not considered a soft protein. you'll want yogurt, cottage cheese, etc. just be careful and sounds like you're chewing enough. i remember craving spicey foods. i loved ricotta cheese and a little parm. cheese and a tsp. of spaghetti sauce. i nuked it for a few seconds. tasted just like lasagna without the noodles.
