I too spoke with the nutritionist and she stated that Viactive was fine.  I told her I had read contrary info and she still said that Viactive was fine.  I ordered chewable calcium citrate from Bariatric advantage because I figured "why not have a more absorable calcium".  EMMC has a great program and I am sure that either is fine.  I am bring the information to my three week follow up and will let you all know what their response is.

I have been taking the Building Blocks bariatric vits and calcium since before surgery.  I tolerate them very well, still taking chewables cause I like them.  Last time I ordered I got Calcium pills which I don't like, the chewies were chocolate, so I have 2 containers of calcium and they are citrate plus Vit D and magnsium i will sell cheap and mail them to you. I am going to get chewies again from www.bbvitamins.com

It was magic when she realized who she had become...

I think, because EMMC has us taking 1800 MG that the malabsorption thing is a null point. We are taking 3 times the recommended dose, so even with malabsorption we get the calcium benefit.

I discovered Nature's Choice calcium chews. They're about 1/2 the price of Viactive and just as good. Wal Mart sells them. The caramel is yummy.

Emily -

EMMC changes their protocols frequently - they have me taking 1200 2x daily as well as some others that work with me. I've found that you can't make a blanket statement for what EMMC requires - I work with people who are 6 plus years out on up to just had surgery and there are some differences for all of us.
