yes the lady is old and a little demented but still no excuse. yesterday I was in the PT room with my morning group and the room got really crowded. there was about 20 patients in the room and five or so therapist. Just as i was getting my group started in rolled the patient that cut me down to size the day before. now instead of being alone with her in her room she was attacking me in a crowded room of people. "that's the woman over there that fat slob how do you let her work here she said. the first therapist just kind of brushed off her statement. then again she asked another therapist " how can she work here she is so fat" the therapist replied "well i will have to think about that". I was so pissed i walked over to the her therapist and told her " to correct her patient and tell her she is out of line and if she cant control her out burst she will have to leave the therapy room. a few of my patient are bariatric patients and they asked to leave the room because they were uncomfortable. this time she got to me, i returned my patients to their room and walked out of the facility. i sat in my care and cried. I really haven't had this happen to me in a long time.

I am so sorry you are having to deal with this awful person.  Even with dementia there is no excuse for that behavior.  It was horrible enough to have it affect you but now she has also affected other patients.  Can you talk to management about this?  She obviously shouldn't be in rooms with others if she is going to verbally abuse them.  Her therapist should have removed HER from the situation because she was the one causing the scene and was the one abusing you.  Please don't let her get you down.  She is an sick woman.  We all know how hard it is to be overweight and the struggle we go thru to become a healthy weight.  Remember us and our support not her and her evil comments.  You are stronger than her.

Time to talk to your supervisor and you have witnesses to the situation. Under no cir****tances should you have to tolerate this abuse. Good luck and just remember you are getting healthier. Keep thinking about the positives in your life and don't let her bother you. I know it's hard but keep your chin up. You are a great person so deserving of better.

It sounds like it is time for some patient and especially staff training on tolerance and understanding.  I wish your coworkers had been more supportive of you, not only for your benefit, but that of your bariatric patients as well.  Since the staff didn't support you, then the bariatric patients may believe that is the way the staff feels about them.  That is so sad.

As difficult as it may be for you, I hope you will have the courage to speak to your supervisor about this and how it reflects on the institution.  Perhaps put it in writing, so you don't have to worry about getting emotional in front of the supervisor and you can think through how to word it.  It affects both you and all the patients, since it must have been so very uncomfortable for everyone within ear shot.

I hope this situation gets better for you soon.  ((hugs))

I don't think that woman will be seeing any pearly gates in her future. What an old bag!! I'm sorry you had to go through this, it just isn't acceptable and she shouldn't be allowed to treat people that way.

I'm so sorry you had to deal with her again!!  I definitely think some "in your room" therapy is in order!  She sounds like a big bully!  Management definitely needs to do something with her therapy and the support from other staf........there should be no tolerance for bullying!!!!!

Hope things go better tomorrow!  Keep your chin up!  You are a MUCH better person than she will EVER be!!!!!!
