I am just three weeks out and I have a couple of questions. The first two weeks I was loosing about a pound a day, which was great, but it stopped. I have not lost a pound in a week and I am doing everything I am supposed to. I will admit that I do not go # 2 very often in fact I bet it has been 3 or so days, I did take a laxative tonight, I have had to do that since surgery. I do go for my 1 month on Monday so I will ask there. I guess I just want to hear that this is not unusuall and I will start losing again, and if I will have to take laxatives forever ?????????????

Thanks
Debbie

Yup, you are right on target for the first weight loss stall - many people stall around this time, myself included. I didn't do this - but many people who have taken their measurements have found that even though they might be in a stall, they lose inches.

Ummm.....the constipation issue.....for most of us it keeps getting better as we add more foods (and fiber) to our diets. It is a process though figuring it out - even now at almost 14 months I've just found out flax seed once or twice a week is very effective for me. I haven't had to take a laxative since about 5 months out.

Welcome to the wonderful world of stalls!  Just keep following your plan and it will start up again!

I've taken a laxative exactly.........TWICE.........since surgery!  I do take a stool softener, but, as stated above, once you are able to add more fiber rich foods to your diet, things should improve.  Don't forget to keep sipping tha****er.........gotta have it to get things through!

Good luck!

I have only used stool softeners and benefiber.  I really try to get fiber into my diet too.  I have been afraid to take laxatives because I am afraid my body will start to depend on them.  I don't think it is good to use them too much.
Stalls...Yes they happen to all of us at different times in our weight loss journey.  Just don't be a slave to the scales.  Keep following the plan and you will start to lose again.  Make sure you are doing some sort of physical activity too.   The more you move the more you will lose.

You will find something that helps you stay regular. For me its just a small handful of Cashews a day. Don't worry you will start losing again. It may be time for you to up your calories a little. Not sure what you are getting in a day but it could help to up cals.

We were told  to make sure that we have bowel movements at least every 2nd day.
I take benefiber and occasionally miralax.

Oh the wonderful world of stalls. I like to think that a stall is my body catching up with the weight loss- changing size.
