Shocked into new Mind set
My neice made me some cookies with SF choco chips and splenda. I said well lets add up all the nutrition stats and figure approx each cookie. OMG was I shocked each had 51 calories.
I always thought ok Sugar Free I can have it and THAT WAS SO WRONG. Those calories really ADD UP.
I am really doing some drastic mind changing on what I am eating from now on. No wonder i am still 315 lbs.............
Sugar Free still Not for Me!!!!!!!

I always thought sugar free stuff was lower calorie but then I started reading.....OMG! How UNTRUE! I guess that's why so many of those sugar free cookies and stuff all say "not a low calorie food".......hmmmm
I ALWAYS read labels.........you just can't be sure what you're getting unless you do! I even plug recipes I am going to make into the Dailyplate to see if the the calorie/protein ratio is something I will eat. I try to get 10g of protein for every 100 calories........it can be REALLY tough sometimes!
Good luck!

SO TRUE!!! I have ready the paperwork that you gave me, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!, and getting into a routeen from what i have read in them..... 10 protein for ever 100 calories, less then 5 g fat, less then 5 g sugar... is that all right?? i feel like i am missing something.... hummm... its not the easiest thing but got to work it right!
I always read labels. That is what I am trying to get the teens I work with to do. They will look at it and say well thats not much sugar. I say READ for how many servings are in the bottle. They just NEVER thought of it.I think the cookie receipe that surprised me the most 1T of LITE margarine had 50 calories. So a stick in the cookies added up !!Plus 1 cup of peanut butter. Well it is mind opening. i said last night I could live on water and glucose tab's because I get LOW blood sugar. Even those have 4 calories:)

While I was in the hospital, the nut came to see me. I was still confused about how to count carbs and sugars. She set me straight. 15g or carbs = 1 serving. She also told me to beware of things that say "sugar free". She said beware the sugar alcohols such as sorbitol. Any word in the ingredients ending with the letters "ol" for instance, sugar free gum contains sugar alcohols and each stick is = 2 calories. Not a lot but if you are a gum enthusiaist..well you are getting extra calories you may not be aware of..
You gotta count the carbs in everything you eat, even veggies. Nut says 3 servings of carbs per meal. So if you have a sandwich...that would be 2 servings of carbs and that leaves you 1 serving or 15 g of carbs left for that meal. Hope this helps.
