What an ordeal!

Hi everyone!

Well its been a long nine days.  I was in the hospital all this time.  On Friday the 20th I was having a hard time breathing.  I was advised to go to the ER and for once I listened.  Thank God I did.  A CAT scan revealed that I did indeed have multiple blood clots in my lungs.  I thank God and my guardian angel and the universe that I am alive to tell this tale.  Nothing is more humbling than when you face death.  Well, I spent 8 1/2 days in the hospital  I was on a blood thinner called Heparin (IV) and also Coumadin which is oral. I had to stay at the hospital until my blood levels made it to where they wanted the numbers to be. What a long haul.  I'm glad to be home finally.  Unfortunately, since I am on blood thinners, my RNY has been postponed for 3 months. At the least   I did lose 14 pounds while in the hospital which brings my weight loss toa grand total of 47 pounds. Yay.  Glad to be back and look forward to catching up on what has been happening with you folks on the board.

Glad to have you back, I'm sure it's been a long ordeal for you - and I know having your RNY postponed can be disappointing - in the long run though - so much better for you to find out and deal with the blood clots before surgery than after.

So sorry about your ordeal, but YEAH!  You are home, we were all very worried about you. Glad you took some advice and took care of yourself. Better to be safe than sorry and  better to know about the clotting problem now than after surgery.

Sorry to hear about your hositpal stay, but glad you were checked out and the problem found.

Yes, it's disappointing to have RNY postponed, but it will be for the best. Stay well and best wished recouperating. 8 days in the hospital can be quite trying.

WOW YIKES and. God is indeed good. You should be feeling very blessed to be still here. I am glad you are on the mend. You will feel so much better once this is taken care of. And even better when you actually have your RNY it is worth waiting for.
