Thyroid

My pcp just called and said that she was alarmed at my TSH levels from the initial blood workup that she did on my Friday.  She is calling in a Rx for me and will recheck levels in 4 weeks.  I have been begging doctors to check my thyroid for years and they just waved off my concerns.  She said that she was shocked that in reviewing my transferred records, no one had ever checked.

I have complained for years that I felt like doctors just didn't want to help me or take me seriously.  I would just get the weight loss lecture everytime I had an appointment, like a diet was going to fix everything.  I was seeing my last doctor for a year and a half.  She never once got near me.  Never checked anything...never even put her stethoscope on me.  It was like I was contagious or had the plague.  This is the first medical professional who has ever listened to me and been thorough in her exam and tests.  I am so grateful to have finally found her.

It just goes to show we all have to advocate for ourselves.  Only we know our bodies!!  It is amazing to me that so many Doctors don't listen to our needs!  Yay for you for finding one that will listen!!

I'm so happy that you have found a PCP that is on top of things!!!!!   It's amazing how many docs just want to blame everything on our weight!  It's NOT the only reason we have medical problems!  SHesshhh!   Hope this doc can get your thyroid straightened out!  Good luck and keep us posted!

I'm glad you finally got a dr to listen to you and I hope the meds make you feel better. It is amazing how much better I feel since I started taking my thyroid meds. I have been on them for about a year and have had a few dosage changes but I have been on the same dosage for the last 6 months and my numbers have been great. Good Luck!

It is frustrating, for sure. Goes to show docs aren't Gods and merely mortals with all that comes with being mortal. Like has been said before you absolutely need to be your own advocate in healthcare.
