just wanting to get an idea about how the appointments go, in what order, how quickly they come along and where are they located, at the hospital or somewhere else.  Thanks for any information you think might be  of help.  Bobbi JO

I can give you a little information.  They are located at 157 Capitol St., which is sort of behind the Shaw's Plaza on Western Ave.  The hospital is across the river but only a few minutes away.

As far as appts. I got very lucky.  They got my info from my PCP on Tuesday and I had my appt. with Dr. Trieu on Thursday, due to a cancellation and my ability to be flexible.  I have my 1st nut appt. on this Tuesday.  They also sent my psych. referral thru Waterville because she said Augusta is backed up right now.  She said I should hear from psych. for an appt. in about a week.  So that's how it's gone for me so far.  If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

You will have a consult with Dr. Trieu and discuss what type of surgery you want. That appt will take about an hour. Afer that you will have three dietician appts that are about 6 weeks apart for each one. Then there is the psych eval. That usually take a few weeks to get in to. Once the test resutls have come back and you are clear you come in for 2 appts with Nate (the trainer).
I went to the seminar in March of 2008 and was approved for surgery in September. I could have had my RNY in September, but decied to wait until January due to my work schedule.
The office staff is very pleasant and Dr. Trieu really does an awesome job. I am very satisfied with my experience.
I forgot to mention that you have to attend at least three support group meetings before surgery also. They are help at Granite Hill Estates in Augusta and at Thayer Hospital in Waterville.
If you have any other questions just message me!
Good Luck!!
Praying for a healthy and thinner 2009.

Now that you know how the appointments will go let me tell you that you are very fortunate to have such a fantastic Doc.   He is an incredible surgeon and has a terrific bed side mannor.   His staff is even better!!  Once you meet with him, attend 3 support group meetings, meet twice with a nutritionist, and meet with a psychictrist (sp) they will submit to insurance.   Then once approved you will meet with Nate, the personal trainer twice, have a preop with Huy and a pre op with his nurse.   It looks like a lot, but it gives you the time to research, ask questions and make sure this is what you want.   Good Luck...you are in great hands!!   I had my procedure on the 11th and have been off pain meds since the 12th.   I have NO pain and am very comfortable.   One compalint that i hear over and over is that there is a great deal of pain at the port site....On the 11th he began a new port placement procedure...I was not his first I was the third, I was just gald he was doing it on the 11th.   Kimberly
