Back from Consult

I had my appt. with Dr. Trieu and it went very well.  No reason to be nervous other than the fun of being nervous, lol.  He had no problem with doing RNY on me, so I'm not sure why the secretary was saying he'd want LapBand.  I'm pretty sure I'll be going with RNY.  I like the idea of LapBand and the less invasiveness of it, but I'm afraid that I would fail the band somehow.  So I have my NUT appt. on this Tuesday and I'll also go to the support group Monday night.  I was pleased that I didn't have to wait forever for the NUT appt.  They also sent the referral for my psych consult (I have no idea how I'll pass that - ROFL).

I also called the PCP's office for a scrip for cholesterol meds.  I really hope the rest of the process goes this fast, but I'm sure there will be some stalls along the way.  Thank you everyone for the well wishes and I'll definitely be more active on the board now that I've officially begun!

Woo Hoo! Sounds like a good visit!    Now just a question, have you called your insurance co and #1 do they cover RNY?  And #2  what do they require you to do?

From what I understand, they require a BMI over 40 and a co-morbidity.  So it shouldn't be too bad, but we shall see.  I'm very worried about getting denied, but we'll just see what happens I guess.  Thanks for asking!

Yup, mine did too.. But some insurance companies require monthly visits with doctor and documentation of your failure to lose weight for a period of time (ie 6 months) .. just wanted you to be prepared.  You know, don't want you to wait all this time only to find out you might not meet their requirements and have to wait even longer.

Congrats on your appointment!  Sounds like things went well!  The hardest part is the waiting!  The "nerves" are "normal"!!   Relax and breathe!!!!!!!!!

Good luck with the rest of your appts!

You're on your way!!!! Good for you.  Psych eval not bad at all, just are you aware of what is going to happen to you....and how are you going to cope without food as your comfort....those kinds ofthings...Good luck with the rest, and the waiting IS the hardest.

It was magic when she realized who she had become...
