My  Son has been  trying to jump the hoops for gastric  bypass and  he now
has an appointment with  dr  toder on March  20

It is getting very real for him now.

I  cant wait for him to start  the  new journey after surgery.

Yes they do want a weight loss before  you see the doctor and surgery  he has been in ww with me and so far has lost  25 pounds.   Hope  he continues.

I have not seen him fit since he was  23 years old  will  love to see the change in him.

thanks all   you are great

Yeah for him!  Just curious Pattie, how long from his Nut referral until he got his consult? Good for him too losing all that weight pre-op will really help him in his journey.

Hi   Shawn is  33 almost  34  this year  He has a bmi of  49 when he started  he now has a bmi of  46 since his  25 pound weight loss

He  last saw the nut  and psych  the middle of january  so  almost  2 months weight to get into  dr Toder.  but she is the one that he wants  and he has  blood clotting problems  and has started to hold fluid in his legs so   he wants the best.  And she is   the most experience with  those problems

I am going to his  surgeon appointment with him  as i want to here what  she recommends.

He would like  the gastric bypass but with his problems  he might have to do band.  He will go on  Dr toders recommendation   either ways.    As i do believe the surgeon knows best.   After you do the psche  exam and interviews  they pretty well know  what is best for you.   We  may not agree but they are usually right.   But  we  will wait and see what she says.  He is fine with either but thinks for  success  he would like the rny

So I am sure it will be summer before he gets a surgery date as she is that far ahead in surgery.

Take care all

If the dr recommends the band for him, he could also be a success.  but at a much slower and safer rate.

That's great, he is already doing so well.  I understand about the clotting thing, I retain lots of fluid in my legs and I had cellulitis summer before last. Scary stuff.  I'm very happy for him, he is still very young and will enjoy his loss.
