First let me say,  Davids Bridal was like a meat packing plant yesterday.  My DD wants to buy all and everything without even considering money (which by the way, she has none), yes  we are paying for the reception, (food, cake, decorations, booze, her college loans till August so they can save for honey moon) but she needs to pay for dress, tux, flowers. (all the while saving for the honeymoon, she has NOOOOO idea of how to shop and how much things will add up.  Needless to say I'm stressed and my back and feet hurt.  I on the other hand did get her invitations for $14.00, (that includes, cards, envelopes, RSVP cards) and all the platters and bowls for food.  Planning this wedding is going to get the best of me, especially working with my DD.  She isn't worried about anything. (whatever you want mom)??? oiyyyyy!!!

Hold your ground,,and be really clear about what it is you are in charge of and what is theirs...a good question is"gee, I don't know what you are going to do, what have you been thinking?"  and then wait...This party and crafty stuff is what you excel at, I have no doubt it will be the party of the year, with careful planning and good boundaries it won't break you all and make resentments that are hard to recover from...Good luck with it all, and remember to find the JOY during it all!!!

It was magic when she realized who she had become...

Where did you get invitations for $14!  SCORE!  My best friend who has been engaged for 2 years is finally getting married at the end of MAY.  I think she is ALOT like your daughter.  She has been thinking about all the little things and she only has like 3 months...hello, don't worry about a little decoration....how about a reception site?!  So they asked me to help, and by help they mean do LOL.  But I am just pushing and trying to stay on top of them.  They are paying for it themselves and are using tax money...this is very unorganized (which kills me because I am very structured by nature).

So I am trying to give her ideas of things to do really cheap.  She is getting her wedding dress from fashionbug online for $109.  Her sister is making cup cake tiers with fondant etc.

We were just talking about invitations yesterday, wouold love to hear any ideas you had or what you are doing.  Your daughter is so lucky to have you doing this for her.  Definitely keep those purse strings tight or it will get out of hand fast!  Everything adds up and it's the little things (like napkins or something) that you forget about.
