What does everyone take for a multi vitamin?   I have purchased my chewable calcuim and they also offer a chewable multi.   I have heard of people using things like the flinstones chewable and the childrens gummie vites.   I have tried the WLS suggested vitamins and find them undeseriable.   Thanks for your help.  Kimberly

Before surgery and out of surgery I used 2 Centrum Chewables a day....after I finished those  and when I was cleared to swallow pills I switched to Centrum Performance vits.  My advice is I wouldn't take Flinstones because they are children's vits...you need 2 adult vitamins a day.  However, my mother takes those because she is not suppose to have Vit. K because she takes Coumadin on a daily basis.

Now my   children  chewable completes   say  on them for a  child or  adult  one tablet daily.  so  if you check out the back  it is  comparable to adult  vitamins.   so  if you have a  childrens complete  chewable it is the same as an  adult.

We can have centrum  but  not centrum silver.  They say  centrum silver does not have as much iron so we are not suppose to have them.    I  get mine at  cotsco  when i am near on  and it is Kirkland sugar free childrens  chewables.    I like them and take them because i love them.   I hate pills so it is  just easier to  have them.     so i  stayed with  them and  can  stay with them according to my  dietician

I personally use the viactive for two reasons, I HATED THE chewable sweet candy vitamins.  I am also Lap band and the viactive is ok for us. and with the band it is too hard to swallow any vitamin even 8 months out,  vitamins are way too huge.  to each his own, but I wouldn't be able to chew those sweet things everyday, and would probably skip them, so at least this way I'm getting a multi in everyday.  I like the choc. I actually look foward to it as a desert.  I can't swallow pills in the morning with the band.

Viactiv are the ones that I have purchased...my only concern is that they are 20 calories per vitamin.   Add that to the 20 cal per calcium (and it looks like I may have to take 2) plus the 20 cals from Fiber Choice...good grief that's 80 cals just from vitamins.  Ihave other pills I will have to take, but am looking forward to being able to stop taking Nexium after surgery.  They are repairing my hyatial hernia.

did your dr. tell you you have to take 2?  with the Lap band it isn't necessary.

I assumed that I would need two becasue I thought I needed 1000mg of Calcium and each chew only has 500mg.   I have my final visit with the nurse/pre op next week and I make sure I really do need that much.

oic, I wasn't told that so I will just stay with one vit. a day.  feel great, my labs were perfect. if you don't mind the sweeness of the other vitamins with more Calcium go for it.  I hated the tast.  and as I said the choc. vit I take, take the place of my desert, I love them and can't get a desert for that little calories. lol  you'll do fine with which ever one you choose. no need to worry too much with the band, as long as you take something.
