Hyatial Hernia and lap band

I have been told many times they will repair a hyatial hernia while placing a lap band.   Has anyone had this happen?   Was the recovery longer?

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift, and that is why they call it the present.

There has got to be someone out there that has had a hyatial hernia repaired.   I have had to take Nexium for over 15 years to keep it under control.   I am hoping after the repair that is one of several meds I will be able to stop taking.    Kimberly

I think it depends on the surgeon. I had a slight hyatial hernia before my RNY but have no idea if it was fixed or not. Sorry I can't be of much help. You could ask your surgeon if that is something that he/she does indeed take care of. Best wishes

Hmmm I thought Nexium was for Acid Reflux Desiese, and ulcers? Hyatial Hernias are when the top part of the stomach sticks up through the Diaphram is what I was told. Maybe they are treating you with the Nexium to prevent an ulcer?
