Ok so now I am advanced to phase 4!!  Woohhooo I can eat...only one small problem....It hurts....so here is my question....tonight i had ham.=.about 1 oz ....green beans= one tablespoon and maybe a teaspoon of cottage cheese.....I have bad pain right under my sternum area.within minutes of eating my last bite...Did i eat too fast?  too much??  does that pain happen when your pouch is too full?  or maybe i did both...not quite sure...help! :)

hi  Jenn

you may  have eaten too much.   try  it  again and if it continues to hurt then i would let  nuts and  doctors off  know.

You could always  email the dieticians office and ask the question.

some of us could only eat  a couple of ounces  and  i for one had a real hard time with  hard protein with is the ham.

good luck and  you are doing  great!!!!

Make sure to chew really really well. For me If I ate to fast and got stuck I would have pain. hmm pain doesn't describe it.  They are not kidding when they say eat SLOW!!!!!

Although our meal booklets give portions for protein I found it was way too much for me.
1 oz deli turkey and 1 oz cheese roll-up sounded good. At first I could only get 1/3 to 1/2 of that down.

Take it slowly, chew, chew, chew and stop when you feel satisfied. That extra fork full can put you over the edge to being uncomfortable and too full.

Some foods slide down, while others seem to be dense and sit like a rock in my pouch. You'll learn which foods these are. It's different for everyone.

It was probably a combination of eating too much too quickly but I'd call the doc's office if it happens ALL the time!  Gotta remember to eat REALLY slowly and chew, chew, chew.....just like the sip, sip, sipping we always talk about!
Hope you are better today!

sounds like what everyone else has said. i bet you ate too much and didn't chew enough. try just the ham and see how you feel. don't worry about the veggies just yet. get the protein in. i had to do shakes at this stage to get it all in. i know eating a hard boiled egg was almost too much food. go easy.
