Ready to give up or go insane...oops too late
Angela, I'm sorry you are going through this stomach pain.
I would travel to Bangor. They specialize in RNY and will know what to do. Many physicians, when they hear you're a RNY patient will either not know what to do, or won't touch you and refer you to your surgeon. No physician is going to diagnose, or give medical testing advise over the phone, sight unseen. What you are asking for is unrealistic. The other thing is most hospitals won't do much more than basic blood tests or x-rays on a weekend. They are not set up for barium swallow contrasts or emergency endoscopies. The best you could do is to appear at a medical facility, either at home or Bangor and be evaluated. If the medical staff is willing they could contact NESurgical after they have some concrete answers from the E.D. physician and get the surgeon's opinion. You bodily being there causes them to evaluate, treat you, or keep you comfortable until Monday.
Dr. Clough, at Friday's support group, touched on this. When will general practitioners understand about RNY, how to treat, what meds to treat with? At this point many of them don't.
For me, I phoned NESurgical and will be phoning first thing this morning- depending on the outcome of breakfast. I believed I had a blockage, which, maybe, perhaps, has cleared! It has been since Tuesday that food hasn't stayed down.
