Ready to give up or go insane...oops too late
I have called my surgeon's office on call Dr 4-5 times to try and get him to call me back. Its not my surgeon but the one on call and I thought maybe he could tell me what tests I might have done cause I am tired of waiting and trying the same thing I tried before, meds that aren't working. So I thought if he could tell me then I would go to the ER and maybe see if we can find out something. I am only trying to get better, tired of feeling this way, and I didn't know if my local hospital would know what to do. So I have been sitting here since about 9:22 and its now almost 10:40 and still no call back. What do I do??? No since waiting til tomorrow, cause then I will still be waiting, cause they think I should be on this medication or atleast finish the rest and I know its not working. Sorry if this all seems confusing or written badly, I am just so confused, I thought they were there for us. I mean it says in all the things that stomach pain isn't something to mess with after having gastric bypass, but yet they seem to be letting this go. I am fine as long as I dont put any food or lots of liquid in my stomach. Well he just called me and it was a waste of time. oh well I give up

I would just go to the ER....If there is something terrribly wrong they will page northeast surgerys oncall...I have dr toder and I just went to the er last weekend because of severe pain....they ran all kinds of tests and then called the oncall for their office...whom then came in asked all kinds of questions and then admitted me for pain and more tests....Thats what I would do...I would just go...at emmc they have a special protocall for post gastric bypass....x-ray, ct scan, blood work....Urinanylisis ..at least if all those come back ok you would know you were ok...better to be safe than sorry....the doctor in the Er that i saw said they see 3-4 post gastric bypass people a week in there with issues...sometimes with nothing wrong...sometimes with something wrong...

I agree with Jennifer and go to the ER. Hopefully they could run some tests and at least rule some things out? Better safe than sorry. If you don't feel confident in your local hospital, it may be worth the distance to go where they have more experience with RNY patients? With all that you've been through, I think I'd go have you checked out! Please let us know what you decide to do! I hope they get to the bottom of this soon!

I hope the lack of you reposting means you took everyones advise and went to the ER.
Never wait for a damn DR. Do what you need to do for yourself. If something is seriously wrong and you wait on the DR, you could be hurting yourself. If you don't get the results you want from a DR, go to another. There are many DR's in Maine that have experience with RNY paitents. Even if you have to drive a ways to get there. I would go where I'm going to be treated the way I want to be treated. You need to be proactive for yourself, because no one else is going to do it for you.

No, I am still here at home. I know I need to take care of myself and I lack in that department, but this has been much more serious for me. Even if I dont want to drive the hour or more away and put my family out, I know I need to do something. What do you all think, that I should go where there are RNY dr's or go to my regular for stomach tests? I also didn't go, and not this is not excuse but my Dad lives an hour away and was coming for a visit and he doesn't have a cell phone so was waiting on him. I just wonder if I go to my local hospital who were the ones that dealt with my blood clot and then just called my surgeon and got what they needed from him, will they be able to help. You can't just call the ER and ask cause they would tell you to come in no matter what cause it saves them from being sued. Please all I need to know what you think...Angela
