Having Major stomach problems STILL...TMI

Not sure if I ever posted about having stomach problems.  I don't think that I did.  I have  been trying to hide from it all and just think that "oh I will be ok, just it takes time".  As you all know I have had my share of ups and downs since surgery, but have marched right along anyway.  Nothing is going to get in my way, I hope.  Well I had put in a call to the surgeon's office about a month or so ago, and they put me on a pill that is if you have an infection in your stomach, and that hasn't worked either.  Not too be gross, but most of the time my stools are diarrhea, and I thought this too would just pass after a few months but hasn't.  Some days I feel like I live on the toilet, its just down right gross!  So I eat, and it doesn't matter what I eat, I get pains in my stomach, not any one particular area, its all over.  So then I thought well I will try just soups, like the before surgery diet, with soup all day and then a lean cuisine meal at night or salad at lunch and soup at breakfast and supper.  Anyway I did that yesterday and still got pains in my stomach and still have bowel problems.  I thought well maybe its only one day and my body hasn't adjusted yet, so I tried soup this morning again, and its after 10 and I am still having crampy pains in my stomach.  I put out another call to Dr. Clough and spoke with his nurse, he is in surgery all day.  She told me there is couple things it could be but that she would run this all by him.  I mentioned to her that I could have any tests done here at the Skowhegan hospital as long as they could do them here and that I was willing to do anything to get to the bottom of this.  She said yeah sometimes you can have tests done and don't need to be seen.  I do have an appointment at the end of the month that they could move up if he felt I needed it which I will, BUT I prefer keeping my appointment for the end of the month only because I  have the nutrition one the same day also.  But I will do whatever I need to, to get better.  This really is hard to follow and do the things you need to do in order to lose weight when you have first a blood clot, abcesses, then pneumonia, then a sinus infection, then stomach problems, and having bronchitis right now too.  And oh I forgot to mention that when I do have periods, even though I am on depo-provera, I am having them last between 2-3 weeks.  Anyway I know, TMI.  Hope you all had a Wonderful Christmas and  have a Happy, Healthy New Year!  Hugs...Angela

P.S. Sorry just had to vent...

You poor thing! No fun for you so far. I wonder if you have an ulcer. They can do an endoscopy to find that out. You should ask for one. I had pains for a while and they did one. Thank goodness everything was ok. Ruth is on some meds I took and I can't remember the name but I took it before each meal. It coats the stomach so you don't have pain. I am also still on Previcid. That works wonders.

I hope you get better soon. 2009 will be your year!

Angela, I'm sorry you are still suffering with all these problems.  I don't know anything about RNY so I can't say weather it is normal or not.  I am sure someone will shed some light on this for you.  Best of LUck and Happy New Year for you also, hope it is a better one for everyone.

Sounds like you need to get after the surgeon's offce to be accountable and step up to the plate and get you the tests you need to make you feel better.  You are going to end up deydrated or malnourished. Good luck!

From the little discription you have given I am wondering if you could have developed an intolerance to lactose. That will make you have wicked cramping and the loose stools. Do you still have your gall bladder? That could also be an issue Gallbladder attacks effect everyone differently.  It could also be an ulcer. Don't let up on the Dr's until you have an answer.

Oh Angela!
I'm so sorry you have to go through another hiccup in your recovery!  Have they tested you for c-diff?  After being on antibiotics a few times, it's a possibility.  The symptoms sounds kinda like it........I'd definitely call the doctor and get seen earlier or have more testing done!  It's really hard to think about eating healthy when nothing makes you feel good or stays in you very long!
Please call the doc again........I'm so sorry you are having to go through this!  Please keep us posted on how you are doing!!!!!
Hugs!!

c-diff is an intestinal bug...it gets to multiply when the "good" bacteria are killed off by antibiotics.   A lot of people who are on antibiotics get it.  It can cause a lot of stomach problems and diarrhea.

rhythm boxing...you have to unlock it by playing other games...it's wicked fun!
