Pre-op Nut appt.
Well, I went to see the Nut yesterday but it wasn't a very good appointment. She said that if she were to refer me right now that she could guarantee that the surgeon would turn me away. I think part of me wishes I had answered all the questions the way I knew they should be answered instead of telling the truth.
Did anyone else have that kind of experience? I have to go back in six weeks to see if I'm mending my ways. I was a little dissapointed, to say the least.

Don't feel bad. It's best to be honest. This can be a long journey and you want to do it right and be totally prepared. I thought I was prepared but found after surgery I still had a lot to learn. Just be patient. Try not to get frustrated. You will get thru this. It is such a reward on the other end. Hang in there.
Don't give up. The same thing happened to me. I had been trying what I thought at the time my best and I had gained four pounds! She told me the same thing and rescheduled me for six weeks later... I was very determined and gave it 100%. I did all the little things they suggested. Chewed my food good, ate only until I was full and never passed that. Made better food choices. For snacks I ate sugar free pudding w/ fat free fluff and I would put a little crushed low fat grahm crackers on it. I went to the gym three to four times a week. I was so happy when I went back to the follow up appt because I had finally showed a weight loss! Two weeks later I got a call with my surgery date. I continued and lost 28 lbs before my surgery!!!

Don't get discouraged. Use this time to learn and make healthier food choices.
The more you learn and change now, the easier it is closer to surgery.
It took me 1 year from the 1st group meeting to surgery date, due to winter weather cancellations and wanting appointments together with DH. I used the time to learn, change and explore different ways of dealing with my emotions other than with food. I'm glad I had that time to get my brain adjusted to different ways of thinking and reacting.
Hang in there- it will get better.

Ummm...over here....exact same experience. Toder is fantastic and I have every bit of confidence in her capabilities....but I had higher expectations for the nutritional portion. I had expected to come in with the truth about what and how I was eating and have them go over and teach me from there....ha was I wrong. So quite honestly I don't like to lie, but that's exactly what I did on my next visit - making sure there was a little drop in the scale and the rest is history.
We are not the only ones either - I work at one of the state's larger employers and there are numberous people who have gone through the program and several have had the same experience.

Hang in there and keep working the program, you will see success, just don't kid YOURSELF..if you aren't doing it it will show. You can get on track, get scheduled and then you will have the help of a phenomenal tool to help you lose and keep off the weight once and for all. All the pre-surg hoops are nothing compared to the life changes you have to make after, so caution by your surgeon's office is a plus, helps US see where we might stumble after...they want your success and your success equals their successful program. Best of luck...
