I didn't have a pre-op app't. so can't help ya much there...
BUT...the nervousness is completely normal...as I'm sure everyone has told you.

Each and everyone of us has been right where you are...but you're gonna do great !!
Once you get there everything moves right along so quickly...you're sound asleep before ya even know it

I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas...
I know it's easier said than done...but try to relax and enjoy the holiday !!
And just keep in mind how awesome you're gonna look and feel at this time next year !!

The very best to you !!

Hey Jessica...

You will go in and weigh in of course.  Crystal will talk with you and give you some of the prescriptions you will need like the lovely bowel prep.  She will give you a schedule to follow of two days before surgery.  Michael will talk with you and go over your file and then either Ashley or Corrine will talk with you about the diet plan post op and about protein again.  I was in the office for about an hour I think.  Then I went next door to hospital admin to do all the testing i.e. chest xray, ekg, blood, and they update your hospital file and give you a bracelet that you have to leave on for hospital admintance.

You will go home and enjoy you last few days before surgery, call the hospital to find out what time you are scheduled to be there and you are all set.  Good luck and best wishes!  Just remember the more you walk the better you will fell.  I was hardly in my bed because it wasn't comfortable. (the drain tube rested right under my lungs so it was uncomfortable and had sharp pains when I lied down the way they wanted me too.)

On the day of your surgery you will sign in on the second floor of the hospital.  They will take you in and get you ready for surgery.  Give you lovenox injection and acid controller.  They will make you put on the compression stockings which you will wear until you leave the hospital.  You will have a morphine drip and pump, use it it will really help you.  The team visits you often in your room throughout your stay and most likely you will have someone who had wls surgery as your roommate so you will be recooperating together.  On your last day you will have the leak test, the stuff they make you drink isn't all that great but it's not as bad as the bowel prep!  It goes by quickly.  Then they give you MOM and have you start drinking your 16 1oz cups of water over a time period.  The nurses and cnas do a really good job and are very understanding.

I hope that helps!

Yep they test blood count and a few others too, I had 3 or 4 vials taken that day.  They also check your urine so be prepared to pee!

You will do great and pretty soon you will be back home again; joining everyone on the loser's bench!!
