All I want for X-mas is a Diet Coke

Ok so I was a big soda drinker before my surgery. My favorite was diet coke from McDonald's. There is something about their diet coke that is so addictive. Several of my friends are addicted to McDonald's diet coke to and swear it's better than any other diet coke. I did my best to refrain from drinking soda about six months before my surgery. I did well and found some lemonade mix that I like - similar to crystal light. But once in awhile every few weeks I would allow myself to have a soda. Well...it's been exactly four weeks since my surgery so it's been awhile since my last diet coke and I WANT MY DIET COKE FROM MCDONALDS TODAY!!! So I'm off to the fridge to pour myself a glass of ice cold water.....maybe it'll pass....

LOL...I've stepped away... Thanks!
So I've had a sugar free chocolate milk instead of the ice water and now I'm working on some lemonade. I think I was craving it only because I felt so thirsty but it's easing away.....until the next diet coke attack!

hi, yes, NO NO.  I also was a pepsi drinker, and have snuck a few here and there.  It can be VERY painful, like having a huge burp you can't release. pressure on chest.  I CANNOT have one with food in my tummy, it hurts so bad I could die.  if I do have one, it is def. on empty tummy and sip.  but, work on staying away.  I have the band and am not sure how it would affect RNY.  best of luck,

Good for you for refraining. It is my biggest fear of having this surgery is that I can't have soda.  I just LOVE it, I tried for a few weeks to give it up and then I went back to one a day or less. I know I have to give it up eventually, but it's such a BAD habit....  Good luck.

Oh man.......I drank a lot of diet pepsi - right up until the day before my surgery....haven't touched one since - I miss the memory of it.....but I gotta tell you this far out I took a whif off a friends - did that every smell disgusting and rancid now.

Cigarettes on the otherhand I still miss on a daily basis and still struggle with,
