Endoscopy today!
Well, the endoscopy is done and over with and I'm back home for the day! Glad it's over with!
AND...............I have an ulcer!!!!!!! Go figure, right????? The Dr that did the scope said it was pretty big too!
I also had a few staples along the anastamosis that were "festering" and causing issues, so he removed those and had to cauterize them as they were bleeding pretty good!
He said everything should heal up in time. I have to stay on the prevacid and carafate until further notice! AND, I have to go for ANOTHER endoscopy in 2-3 weeks to make sure it's all looking good in there!
I slept really awful last night and I'm still sleepy, so I'm heading off to bed. I think it's gonna be a low day for fluids and protein today! Oh well!!
Happy Thursday everyone!!!!!!!! Have a great day!!!!!!

ETA at 1139am: Dr Loggins just called and explained a few things to me! I guess he doesn't think the ulcer was as big as Dr O'Connor did. He thought it might be about 1 cm long or so but he felt it was caused by my body kinda "rejecting" the clips that they use to create the anasatmosis. He said my pouch looks good, the size of my pouch looks good and the anastamosis itself looks good...nothing looks ischemic. So, he thinks now that these clips are gone (I guess Dr O'Connor removed 4-5 of them) that this should all heal up and I should be able to get back off the meds eventually. He said this does happen with some people as some bodies just don't like those clips but it's pretty rare. He thinks everything will be fine but he reccommended a follow-up scope in a few weeks too, just to make sure everything is healing up!
So there it is then! I'll HEAL! WOOHOO!!!!!! Guess I'm gonna kiss the idea of sleep good bye for now! The phone keeps ringing! ha! Have a great day!!!!!

Sorry to hear about your ulcer and such, but glad that you will heal and be fine. Its nice to know finally what's wrong with us. I have been having a few stomach issues myself, and haven't contacted any dr's about it. I really just hope its part of the "process" or that its the extra stress I am under. Glad to hear that you are going to be just fine. I was really worried about you and the problems you were having. Just think maybe soon you will be able to go off those meds too. Take care and hugs and honks...Angela

Yes!! Make sure you tell the office or oncall Doc.... I was at a meeting just the other night, where Dr Cobean was telling us the horror stories and it was because that person didn't call or they didn't go back to the surgeon's hospital where they know what to do.. It was too late by that time... The person died.
Thanks you all! You ALL are the best!
I am on soft foods for today and I'm not gonna make my protein goal or fluid goal for today just because the pouchy is still very sore! But, Dr L said I could eat whatever I can tolerate tomorrow! I guess I'll see what happens!
Angela.......If you are having issues with your pouch, please get it checked out! I waited 2 days thinking that "it was nothing!" and that it would pass on it's own! WELL, needless to say, it could have been MUCH worse! I know stress has something to do with this (We have just a little bit of stress around here, nowhere near as much as you.....with moving and such!) So, please, don't let it slide, ok??
Hope everyone has a great evening!
hugs,
Ruth
