I know it's a bit early but had to share with you all what I bought myself. I bought a pink and white snowboard, boots and bindings. I've always wanted one and now I have one. I can't wait to hit the slopes. Last year I didn't dare to ski or snowboard for fear I would hurt myself and not be able to have surgery.

I'm 80 pounds down and ready to get outside this winter. I'm not even afraid to fall, which I will guarantee will happen! ALOT!

Good for you!!  I have only skied once in my life and had a miserable time.  I couldn't stay up at all.  I was so sore for a week.
Snow boarding does look like a lot of fun!

Lisa,

That is awesome!! I have been thinking about learning to ski this year. I just got myself two pairs of ski pants at T J Maxx, so I am ready!!   Be careful with the snowboarding, it can be dangerous. My brother, who is a good skiier broke his wrist on the first try with a snowboard.

That is awesome!  I have been skiing my whole life (except for those winters when I was at my highest.  My husband is from Kentucky and when he moved here he wanted to learn to snowboard.  I never laughed so hard in my whole life.  I think I peed and it froze lol.  He would go 2 feet, wipe out, go 2 feet, wipe out.  Be prepared to be sore and bruised after your first time.  Boy this sounds like a downer, but I don't mean it to be!  It only took him 2 more times and he was good to go.  He LOVES it and goes all the time in the winters.  I would recommend doing a small mountain (I mean hill) like Lost Valley first.  There are some simple tricks to that I will find out from Mark.  I know he was having trouble the first few times and then some kid came up to him and said "Ya know, if you just push your toe...something" and wham...he had it.  He had wished he knew it in the beginning.

You should come stay with us sometime this winter and you and I can go to Lost Valley for a few hours...or if you want I can totally have Mark take you for a lesson.  He was one of the teachers when he took the 5th graders from his school.

I took a lesson 2 winters ago. I had a blast. Could hardly stand up as I was at my highest weight. My thighs were killing me. I wanted to die from my muscles hurting so bad. But OMG it was fun. I definately could use another lesson. We're going to Mt. Abram the first time out. They have a great bunny trail. I'm going for it. Lift ticket and up we go. I'll get down eventually!

VERY NICE!  I love pink :)  Mark was going to go to Sugarloaf tomorrow for the tin mountain roundup AKA can day where it is cheap if you donate canned goods.  But our weekends are booked soliday through Christmas with so many functions...so we are heading to Toys 'R Us for lots of quick shopping for the babes.

He goes to Shawnee Peak a lot...they have great deals like $12 night skiing etc.  I like it there as well.  You must be so excited!

HoHoHo!

Have fun - I've never snowboarded, but I use to downhill ski until I wrecked my knees and had a blast.
