On Saturday, out of the blue, I started having pain in my stomach.....just a dull ache, whether I ate or not.  It got worse on Sunday but I just kept hoping it would go away!  Well, after being awake half the night last night, the pain was still here this morning so I got on the telephone with Dr L's office.  I know they just LOVE hearing from me!  NOT!!!!!

Anyways, I am BACK on Prevacid and Carafate (just stopped them both 2 weeks ago!  SHEESHH!!!) and I am going for an endoscopy on Thursday to make sure I am ulcer free!  Keeping my fingers crossed there is no ulcer down there!  (But this crap sucks and HURTS!)

Have a great day everyone!!!!!!!   Happy Monday!!!!!!!

Ruth, sorry you are not feeling well.  I so hope you are ulcer free.  My Dr. has me on two prevacid a day and said I will be on at least one for the rest of my life.  I'm ok with that because I do NOT want any problems.  Let us know how th escope goes.  Best of luck.  Prayers and HUGS!!!

Ruth I'm sorry your stomach pain came back. I hope the scope gives the doctor some definite answers as to what is going on.
Hope you feel better soon.

So sorry Ruth!  If it makes you feel better...you're not alone!  I totally have ulcers.  A few months ago I thought I had bad period cramps or had to go to the bathroom, but couldn't.  Then the next day I could feel every drop of water going into my stomach.  After dinner I was in bed for several hours moaning away.  It felt like someone poured battery acid on my muscles that were contracting...weird painful feeling.  I went to my PCP and she put me on omeprazole (which I think is prilosec).  She did so since the copay was $10 instead of $40.  I have to take it for 2 months and go back and see her.  If I get the same thing again then I have to figure something out "for the long-term" is what she said.

I have only been on the meds for a week now and I had a mini-episode tonight.  Hopefully they work to heal it up.

Let us know how everything goes.  I know exactly what you are going through.

Thanks for all your good wishes everyone!  I appreciate it!

I've been kinda worried about going off the Prevacid since I hit the 6 month mark and now I'm thinking maybe I should stay on it.......but I guess we'll see what the scope/doc says on Thursday!   It's just kinda annoying to be on again/off again with these meds.  I'd rather just stay on the Prevacid and prevent this from happening in the first place!  My co-pay is dirt cheap compared to having to take time off from work and have insurance pay for the endoscopy!  Guess we'll see what happens!

On a good note.........I've taken the Carafate twice already today (1hr before meals) and it seems to be helping!  I am feeling a bit better.......still not "normal" (not that I'll EVER be "normal"....but I think you know what I mean!!!!!!)  haha!

Thanks everyone!!!

I  am so sorry ruth  that   you have this problem.  I took prevacid  the first month  and have not  had to take it since.   Do you have  stress  that aggravates the problem.  I hope it is not an  ulcer.  But i am sure they will get you on the mend.  My  little dog  takes carafate when  her  chronic condition acts up  that is good stuff.

Take care and talk to doctor about  staying on the previcid

Have a great day

That sucks Ruth. I'm getting nervous because I'm getting close to the end of my previcid prescription and I had the same problem as you. I went on the same meds and was fine. The scope showed nothing so that was good news. They said to finish my meds and see what happens. I have 2 weeks left and then we'll see if it comes back. I hope not! I hope you're feeling better soon.

I think it is always better to err on the side of caution with this stuff and knowing and dealing is better than not knowing and suffering...So, glad you called and you are going to take care of this...
