Not really, just a huge pile of my long black hair.  It's been falling out for a little while now, about a month, but the past couple weeks has been rediculous.  I started out with a lot, so I wasn't really too concerned, but now it's getting to the point where if I lose this amount every day for much longer it will be noticeable.  So, before you ask...I'm getting about 50-60grms of protein daily.  My nut says thats where i should be.  I take my multivits. and try to eat vegtables every day.  Some of you mentioned biotin in prev. posts.  I've heard that can cause hair to grow in places you don't want, like your face!!!  I think at this point I may try it anyway.  How much should I take? Do they make a chewable?  I really don't want to spend the big bucks on fancy shampoos.  I've read that this does stop, or at least slows down.  When?  I don't want to cut my hair, it's half way down my back now.  I'm not exagerating when I say I'm losing a lot of hair!!!!!!  Thank God I  started out with a lot!!!!!  HELP!

Mine is falling out tons too.  My hair used to be thick.  Not anymore.  I hate this part.  Mine is long too and I refuse to cut it. I am too scared to take Biotin and I have read many places it doesn't really help.  My nut recommended Zinc.  I have not seen a difference though.  I just keep tellling myself that it will slow down and it will grow back.

I'm not quite sure why either, since I'm not loosing and havn't lost for months??? it just don't make sense to  me.  I"m not happy.  I just colored my hair today "time to cover the grey" and my hair looks like crap.  geee I hate to see what happends when I start loosing weight.  I better start wearing a hat, I ain't walking around looking like this for much longer.

Its not just protein that can cause you to lose hair. My protein levels have been awesome, On that note my Ferritin has been almost non exsistant. A side effect of low ferritin is yup hair loss. Just what I needed lol the thyroid meds made me lose tons already and now it is thinner then when I was born. Oh well I know it will grow back in.

So far I haven't lost too much if any, don't know why cause i have fine straight hair, went through a period during the time my parents died and my son was on trial, that I lost over a 100 strands a day, at least I stopped counting at 100.  So no noticiable loss to date and I am 5 months out now.  I try for 80 gr of protein a day never below 60, have been known to drink a shake before bed to make sure...I have Nioxin from that other time and every now and then I will put some tonic of that on my scalp but not consistently. Had the Nioxin shampoo, conditioner and tonic...thought it did help and then hair loss stopped.  I too have heard Zinc is good and I talk a supplement that is in my Building Blocks vitamins.
Good luck, you do have tons of hair but it would be nice to keep it...

It was magic when she realized who she had become...

The gal that has done my hair for 12+ years says it is the anesthetic that causes hair loss. I did get a hair cut and have worn it very short since actually my knee surgery in 04. She was just telling me 2 weeks ago she could not get over how thick mine was and i color it every 5 weeks with professinal hair color from sally's.Might consider a hair cut ????????

I have those ugly bugs in my shower every morning too!!   I use the Nioxin shampoo, conditioner, and scalp treatment. I take50mg of zinc daily, my multivitamin, and GNC's hair, skin, and nails formula (it has 3000mcg of biotin with is 1000% of the RDA and it has a bunch of other stuff too.)   I get close to 80g of protein most days and I also take iron daily.  What else can I do?

I have noticed that I have to shave my legs every other day now which is odd for me as I used to be able to go 5-6 days before surgery.  My nails are stronger too!  The hair on my head though.........well....it's thinning!!!!  Luckily, I started with VERY thick hair!  Most people don't notice (the only one who DID notice is my DD when she tried messing with my hair for the wedding).

I've also heard that it WILL stop...eventually......I can't wait!  Good luck and let me know if you hear of anything else that works!!!!!   Ruth

Isn't is amazing? No matter how much I had read prior to having surgery and how much I expected to lose hair.....I just wasn't prepared for the reality of it. I spent many hours this summer sitting on my deck running my hand through my hair and letting it blow away in the wind......and that only helped minimumlly - it was everywhere in my house no matter what I did.

The good news is that it does stop - I was four months - it just stopped in the past couple of weeks....

I still have a lot of hair, it's just falling out like crazy!!!!  I know 's not noticable to other people, but my DH is getting really worried.  I haven't really shown him how bad it's really falling out.
