Making this public

I updated my blog today. Surgery date is getting close.

I need write this down, make it a goal and stick to it. My mind has been playing tricks on me. The mentality of " you won't be able to have _____ after surgery, better eat it now" You can fill in the blank with any sweet, high calorie, not on a healthy diet food- in my case desserts. I was so pround to get under 280, and now I'm up in that area again.

So I am publicly acknowledging the fact that this time is NOT the "last supper" time to go completely crazy. Someday, I will learn that I can have a taste of something and be satisfied. I don't need to eat the whole thing. I'll make that another goal

My goals for the next 3 weeks Sept 1-21, 2008
1. Healthy eating- 3 meals
2. 1 good for me snack in the afternoon
3. WATER
4. try a taste rather than the whole, such as desserts, sweets.

Sept 22- Oct 6 liquid high protein diet.

You can do it, there are so many substitutes for all those high cal. foods, sugar free puddings, yogurt w/ fresh fruit, the possibilities are endless, and even if its not a terrific choice, it can still be better then other choices.  I was comparing calories of frozen angus burgers and turkey burgers when I did groceries. it was 140 to 440.  That astounds me.  Just shop around and find a better choice for YOU.  Good luck, Cheryl

Way to go...Setting some goals and trying to meet them. That's what this is all about!  I agree with Cheryl that checking out those labels and finding the lower cal alternative or healthier alternative is the way to go!  You are getting so close now!  Keep your eye on "the prize" and know that you WILL be able to have some of those fav foods and deserts again after surgery, but you won't want the WHOLE thing....just a bite will do you!  Trust me...it's well worth it!!  Keep us posted on how you're doing!  (BTW....I had a couple of "last meals" before surgery and I don't regret them at all!)  Ruth
