Bummer

So, today started off good.  I got up early, showered, got stuff ready to go to the summer gathering.  Got the kids up, everyone ate breakfast, had the guy come pick up the canoe I sold him, then, I realized I hadn't grabbed a before picture.  So, off I went into the back room to rummage through a few boxes where I had some pictures of me stashed.  And my little girl says "OH, I found a snake.  There it is!"  Me, thinking it's her wooden bendy snake, thought nothing of it and kept on with my search for the dredded "fat pic".  Now, my other little girl says, "OH, I see it, can I get it?"  Ok, so now I decide to take a quick look.  Uh huh, sure enough it's a snake...or at leaast the tail of one.  I go in for a closer look, pull out the printer cart the thing is hiding under, and holy friggen crap, it's not just a little snake, not even a fat gardner snake.  It's a freakin 2 1/2 -3 foot red-tailed boa!!!  WE DON'T OWN ANY SNAKES!!!!!!  So, I'm sure you can all pretty much imagine the next hour of my day.  "Get me the tongs, get me some sort of thick gloves.  HEY, get your DAD!!!!"  LOL my kids probably  thought I was going nuts or something.  At that point I was trying so hard to just not lose sight of the damn thing!  I wanted it caught THEN AND THERE.. Don't want that thing lingering around to keep GROWING!  So, John comes down, we chase the snake around for a bit, before he is finally able to catch it by the tail and coax it into a big pickel jar(empty of course).
Ok, it's caught..so now what????  I call local pet shops...they won't take anything that they don't get from their vendors.  Huh, ok....next idea, I had John take it to work and see if anyone wants it.  NOPE, they all think it's cool, but noone's up fpr a pet boa.  So, for the time being, I guess we're now the surprised owners of an almost 3 foot boa!
The BUMMER in all of this is that this all took place just prior to 11:30 when I was supposed to be leaving to go meet most of you.  Once it was all said and done, it was well after 1pm and we figured it would be a bit too late to head up.  (We're about 1 1/2-2 hrs away)  SO, I guess I'll meet you all at the next one.  (Which will hopefully be soon.  )
I hope everyone had an awesome day!!!  Sorry I missed it.

Oh my gosh!  YIKES!!!!

A boa is not something found in Maine. I wonder who lost it? Could you post some lost and found flyers? He's gotta be someone's lost pet.

The weird thing is that we don't really have any neighbors.  So, we are going to check with the guy that lived here before us and see if it was his.  But, my guess is that if it was, he probably didn't want it.  We see him almost every day cause he works for the company that rents the barn out back from our landlord.  If he says it's not his, we'll just check with local animal shelters/hospitals and see if they may know someone who wants it.  That way it won't just get killed or die from the elements.
I don't mind it now that it's IN a jar.  HATED it when it was slithering through my house though. lol  Funny how that works.

I watched the vlog...you guys all look so good...and SO HAPPY!!!  I'm glad it was such a beautiful day!  Next time, I'm going no matter what critter decides to try taking up residence here!!
