my newest addiction??!!??!!
APPLE DUMPLINGS!!!!!!!! I got the recipe from some of the info our nut, Corinne had given us! I used Splenda instead of sugar and OMG!!!!! They are almost all gone! Even the DH and kids loved them!!!!!!! (that's why they're almost all gone!) I think I may have to hide the last 2!! The bad stuff: about 110 cals each, only 2 g of protein...but hey!!! It's fruit inside right? AND....gotta have some YUMMY stuff sometimes!!!!!!!!
Apple Dumplings:
1 pkg ready to bake crescent rolls ( I used the low fat ones, 90 cals each)
4 tsp sugar (I used Splenda)
3 tsp cinnamon (divided)
2 small tart apples, peeled and sliced
1/2c of water
2 tsp of marg
1- preheat oven to 350
2- separate crescent rolls, flatten and stretch each piece
3-mix sugar and 2 tsp of cinnamon and roll apples in mixture, divide evenly among the rolls, fold the dough over the apples and pinch to close openings
4-place in a baking dish (with sides)
5- mix water, 1 tsp of cinnamon and leftover cin/suar mixture, pour over dumplings
6-dot each dumpling with margarine (I didn't do this, but they were still good...I just sprinkled a bit of splenda over the top of them)
7- bake, uncovered 25-30 minutes or until rolls are browned
as made (per Corinne's recipe) yield: 8 dumplings, 130 cals, 6 g of fat each
Enjoy!
