Blood Sugar problems 7 yrs post op
Hello,
I had RNY in 11/01. I was very successful. I have lost 175 pounds and do not need to lose any more. About 3 yrs ago I developed reactive hypoglycemia. I have been on the roller coaster ever since. A slight amount of carbs will send my BS to 300 plus and then if not closely monitored will drop to 30 in a heartbeat. Even the Dr.'s are baffled. It's not that my body isn't producing enough insulin - it certainly is - it's just the timing of the release of insulin. I now take Acarbose at evry meal and inject Byetta 2 times a day to try to control the Highs and lows. I will be meeting with a nutritionist to try to get familiar with the Glycemic Index and go at it from that angle. My question is this - is there anyone else having to follow these stiff guidlines this far out? I don't know whats next.
