My day- ouch! Pain

I started having pains in my upper right abdomen yesterday- not too bad but never went away. DH said it was probably gas.
The pain continued today, and has intensified. Ouch! I phoned my PCP who is on vacation- won't be bac****il next week. Left work, drove 1 hr home and went to the emergency department. They suspected gallbladder problems, but the blood work and urinalysis turned up perfect- no signs of anything abnormal. The MD says that would not rule out gallstones abstructing a duct.
So I'm home with pain meds, anti nausea pills and an appointment tomorrow morning for a sonogram.

I have a strange question, how do they know how much pain medication to perscribe.
When I was at a support group last month I recall a few people discussing the fact that you only need a very small amount of alcohol to get really drunk.. Do you get the same effect with pain medication ?
Please take care and get well.

Maine Gal: Good Luck Honey.... my thoughts will be with you today, keep us posted...
I had the ultrasound this morning. It's not gall stones. The ultrasound can look at kidneys and gallbladder. They're both fine. The ER doc I saw this morning says that my PCP might want to order a GI series or a CT scan. Also encouraged me to return if the pain meds don't help or things get worse.
So I'm at work, hurting and won't take my pain meds until I drive home and can be snoozy in the comfort of my home.
