My name is Kimberly and I am on my 2nd month of my 6 month PSWLP.   My first visit with Dr. Triue is Tuesday and I am really looking forward to it.   Is there anyone out there that is just starting out?  I am concerned becasue my BMI is low (36/37), but I do have several co-mobidities ie: elevated blood pressure, high cholesterol, herniated discs in my lower back (MRI taken), severe Gerd, terrible joint pain in both knees, fallen arches (I have had surgery on one, but am concerned that a second surgery is inevidable), and stress incontinance. j  I have Cigna for insurance and am trying to get all my i's dotted and my t's crossed.   I began the 6 month PSWLP just in case Cigna does in fact require it.    I have done a great deall of research on the lap-band and feel well equiped going into such a venture, but would appreciate any advice of help you may be able to offer.    I have also received letters from other docs regarding issues...one from obgyn for incontience and one from my peditrist regading the plantar faciatis.     Sorry for the long post, but in a nut shell this is where I am right now.    Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

Very nice to meet you Kinberly. I am thinking with all the co morbs you have you will not have a problem getting approved. This is a wonderful site for support.  Being a lower BMI there is a forum you should check out as well  http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/wls_lightweights/
You would fit right in there. As well as here. Welcome to the family.

Welcome Kimberly!  Congrats on starting your journey.  Sounds like you have quite a few co-morbidities that should help you qualify for surgery.  Let us know how your appointment goes.  There are plenty of folks here who have your surgeon and are doing well!  Keep us posted and Welcome!  Ruth

Welcome Kimberly.  I would think your co-mobidity list would be enough.  Good luck and keep us posted.

I had my first consult with Dr. Trieu,   He is just wonderful and believes that with my co-mobitities I should be fine.   I have my first Nutrition appt tomorrow afternoon, but probably won't be able to get into my pshc appt until November.   I can't say enough wonderful things about all the staff and Dr. Trieu in Augusta!!     I really feel like this could happen now.....I was so nervous today when I went in...Thanks ladies for all of your support and kind words...HERE WE GO...LOL    Kimberly
