second guessing
Thank you Candace. I still have your numbers and I won't be shy about calling if I need to. I promise. I know there are others here on this list who would say the same thing. I hope to meet everyone at our summer gathering if I am feeling up to it so soon after my surgery. How soon can we drive after a lap? Anyone know?
I have been nauseous sence i come out of surg..... i just had to call to for more meds becuase i was out .. even the smell of food make me sick .... i wish you best ..not everyone come out with Nauseous.. as my friend did not .. damn she doing alot better then i am today again i wish you my best i know you can do !!!!!!!
Hi Terri! Sorry to hear you are not feeling well today. Hope you get better quickly! I agree with the others that nausea is not always a "given" after RNY. I think I have been nauseous once or twice, MAYBE, since surgery (yeah, I was nauseated IN the hospital, but I think it was mostly due to pain meds). It is not an absolute for everyone. I think you are "normal" for second guessing your decision and knowing yourself and being at peace with your decision is what it's all about. Just so you know, I don't regret this surgery at all! I should have done this for my health YEARS ago!!! Yeah, I still have a ways to go, but I feel so much better already! Do what is right for you......absolutely, and know that we are here for you if you need us. sending honks and hugs your way..... Keep us posted! Ruth
Hi Terri,
I certainly hope you are feeling better soon, I hope that your nausea goes away soon as well. In all the research I have done and all the reading of different forums I have found that the overwhelming majority say that they would have this surgery again in a heartbeat. Personally I have not come across anyone who wasn't totaly happy with their decision. I am sure you will feel the same once you get past the first few months. I think I would be more nervous about the move you are planning than the actual surgery. I takes a brave soul to pick up and move so far away and start a new job. I admire your strength and courage, Best wishes and keep your chin up all will be fine,
Debbie

Hmmmm. Now nausea. That's something I can relate to.
I did get that way on my 2-week pre-op diet and I did get that way a little bit after surgery as well.
Turns out it was because the weight loss lowered my blood pressure. A lower blood pressue was one of my goals so I just made sure I tested and recorded it everytime I was at a store with a blood pressure monitor and I visited my primary doctors office and had them check it twice a week. It wasn't long before I was splitting my blood pressure pill and now I'm not on it at all.

Interesting that you should mention blood pressure. Some docs take their patients right off the blood pressure medication after surgery, never to return, while others do not. I guess Dr Huang is one that leaves you on it, so I guess I better pay attention to mine since it isn't that high without BP medication (only about 140/90). I guess I will drop by my docs office regularly to, just to have it checked. Maybe they will catch it on the 2 week post op check up. How soon after your surgery did it start to drop?
FYI...I LOVED your comment about making shakes at work and everyone else going out for ice-cream and gaining weight because of your shakes. LOL That so would have been me!

When I discussed blood pressure meds with Dr. Huang he asked me to stay on them after surgery but to monitor (which I do). He also asked me to keep my primary physician informed (which I do also). I don't know if this is his way or if he suggested it because I'm 4 hours from him and my primary physician is right here in town. My personal thoughts are he's my surgeon and my primary is my primary. Something like this is easily handled and is more conviently handled by my primary.
